After a week of use, I’m pretty pleased with these Gaswei radios. Full disclosure, I only purchased a two pack, so I don’t know how easy it is to add additional handsets to the channel group. But I have to say for the cost, which is very reasonable, you get a lot of features. The radios are early, robust and rugged with a heavy duty ABS plastic body, and molded hand grips. The belt clip and rear panel are attached with very tiny little Allen screws. This is not ideal for changing a battery in the wild though. As you would expect it has the push to talk button on both sides, which is nice for left-handed people. One benefit I really love is the USB-C port which allows both connection of a charging device as well as an external headset or earphones. Front button, layout, and controls mimic those on cobra radios and use many of the same button combinations. The screen is large, but back in orange, which is not as ideal as the cool blue lighting. Connectivity seemed very good: it was tested between two traveling cars while I’m pulling a trailer and one spotting. Radios lasted for more than four hours without issue or significant battery drain. Talk quality seems fine. Each radio also includes an FM receiver, which is a nice feature for camping or hiking. Additionally, an LED light is included on the top next to the aerial. Again, handy for camping and hiking, but a huge battery drain. My only complaint is they actually feel kind of light. You would expect a radio to feel a little bit heavier in your hand and wow, this isn’t the problem, it does make me wonder overall about the energy density of the batteries. In general, for the price I’m pretty pleased with these and I expect to use them all season long.

I bought these radios to be able to use on my property as they advertise as having a great range and are ruggedized. An additional plus is that they can be used as weather radios as they're sitting in their chargers and turned on, and that proved to be very useful during this past set of storms coming through Tennessee these past two months (March, April). As for their range, they work very well for my 20 acre property at least - clean transmissions and easy to understand on both end of the call. When bored, I like to put the radio in scan mode and it is always picking up transmissions from repeater stations in Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, etc. of their chatter. You can even use them to pick up FM radio stations, however the range for those is not its strength and it'll struggle to pull in anything but the most powerful stations if you're indoors with it.It seems "rugged enough" in my opinion. Surprisingly light, which brings with it perhaps a feeling of cheapness. The body of the radio: it's a chunky, hard plastic, and rubberized around the edges. It's been dropped a few times on the ground and carries a scuff or two but nothing rattling around loose and broken inside. I operated it in a downpouring rain to secure some patio items I had out there during high wind. It got absolutely drenched but kept on working and still no problems with it to this day. There's no quick-swapping these batteries if you need to change them. They're secured behind a panel with tiny phillips-head screws (screwdriver provided), but fortunately their battery life is really good: lasting hours. My biggest complaint is the LCD screen. You need to be looking at it straight-on to read it as it quickly loses contrast when viewing it from any angle outside of straight-on. That can be come an issue on a countertop, table, nightstand, wherever you're going to be in relation to that radio when you need to see it's status or find out what channel that latest transmission came from. A minor issue to be sure, but I found myself constantly having to either pick it up or go over to it when I needed a peak.If you can get this radio as part of a coupon or discount, it would be a great value for the money. It has a lot going for it, but if you just need some walkie talkies around the house, there are less expensive options out there,

Quick and easy set up after reading the directions and learning the different functions and settings. Clear call quality. These are lightweight which is important since I will be taking one on multiday backpacking trips where there is no cell service. It has a radio receiver and the NOAA weather alert function. The weather function can be a life saver and that alone makes them worth their price.

I'll be the first to admit that I am in no way any kind of expert on walkie talkies/handheld radios, but these GASWEI GU1- GMRS Heavy Duty Walkie Talkies seem to be well-made, and to have a good build quality. They have a great feature set, including NOAA weather, FM radio, SOS siren, and of course talking. I really like that they have rechargeable batteries, and have versatile charging options with the included charging cradles or usb chargers. These are great for emergencies, group outings, camping/hiking trips, or just to use around your property, or even to let the kids play with them. I'm very happy with them and would recommend them to others.

Finally got to test these. They work fantastic. They are decently heavy duty. I could talk pretty far before cutting out. They seemed to talk farther than my baofengs. And they are definitely more heavy duty. I am a baofeng fan in general. But if you want something that is a step up from the uv5r's, these would be a good option. Very simple controls, no programming, etc. For a simple radio setup, these are great. And if you aren't a "radio person," I would definitely recommend these for ismplicity.

These walkie talkies are seriously impressive. The quality feels top-notch, and they work like a dream, picking up clear signals every time I’ve used them. They’ve been perfect for all sorts of outings—camping, hiking, even crowded festivals where phone service is spotty.I love how reliable they are, whether I’m out in the woods or just coordinating with friends in a busy place. The features like the weather alerts and hands-free mode are super handy too. They’ve quickly become my go-to for staying connected when I’m off the grid!
