The first reaction everyone had when I handed them one of these handsets was to comment on the weight. These have heft to them and feel great in the hand. There's quite a bit of metal plating that makes them feel solid. All I had to do when I took them out of the box was screw in the batteries (little screwdriver included), turn them on, and wait. There are a few things to note with these. They communicate with cell towers, so you can't be in a basement or a cave, especially when you first turn them on. They appeared to do some initial calibration that took a minute or so. When I saw they were both adorned with a slow blinking green light, they were ready for use. I didn't do anything except turn them on and wait.As walkie-talkies, they work really well. You can hear the delay as your voice bounces over service towers back to the other handset. They worked well everywhere I tested them outside. They did not work in my basement. Thinking of them as a cell phone that has a permanent open connection to the other handset is a good way to imagine them. Anywhere a cell phone works well, these seem to work well. That makes them perfect as a communication device between cars on a road trip. I've used other walkie-talkies with a 1-2 mile range on roadtrips. There are times when one vehicle would stop for a bathroom break, and the other car would lose signal right away. It's not a problem with these. You can stay in communication with your party the entire time, regardless of the distance between you.The speakers on these things are loud. I kept the volume at level 1 or 2 the entire time. 3 or higher is reserved for when you need a crowd to hear your conversation, or there is excessive noise you need to cut through. Battery life is also pretty excellent. I had them running for 3 days without charging with light use. For a car trip, they'd easily last a day of driving on a full charge. But even if you need to charge them in the car, they charge with USB-C, which I have in my car to charge my phone anyway. An important thing to keep in mind is that these devices require a subscription. You get the first year free after purchase. It wasn't clear how much each additional year costs pursuing the OMIZN website. I contacted them via email, asking how much year 2 would cost for two SIM cards. I got a short reply back rather quickly stating simply "$30". If this ends up being the case, that's a reasonable fee for the operation of long-range walkie-talkies. I just wish it were clear up front what the ongoing costs would be. I would also like to see them improve the subscription experience. I'm still not entirely sure how to set up my account for year 2.Overall, the hardware is fantastic. These walkie-talkies have many use cases that are different from standard walkie-talkies. I gave these four stars simply because of the confusion/lack of upfront information on the ongoing subscription costs. They are worth the initial price, but being a device that requires a subscription service, there needs to be more effort taken for the long-term customer experience.

The walkies came in quickly and with no issues. The M9 Walkie Talkie with SIM Card includes unlimited range worldwide communication for a year, after that you have to buy one of their plans. The two-way radios are long range with noise reduction and could be good for business purposes. The batteries are charged with a USB-C cord. The walkies are not very easy to understand because the manual is not clear. The walkies seem to be fairly well-built. In my opinion, with everyone having a phone in their pocket, these are not a necessity for most and not a good value. But if you are a company that needs these types of walkies to communicate, then maybe these could be for you.
