The GMRS-20V2 uses our ground breaking second generation GMRS firmware features found in our GMRS-V2 and puts them in a 20W submersible mobile radio. The GMRS-20V2 has 200 completely programmable channels that you can arrange, modify, and use as: GMRS, NOAA, or Scanner channels. You can quickly add or remove multiple GMRS channels to any location, using our quick and easy on-board menus.

20W Power & Changeable Antenna
The GMRS-20V2 has a maximum power output of 20W. The GMRS-20V2 uses a standard UHF antenna connector (SO-239) for use with any GMRS antenna or mount that connects with PL-259. Quickly mount with our vehicle antenna such as the Nagoya UT-72G for GMRS use.
Extend your range with a larger GMRS tuned antenna such as the NMO-200C paired with a variety of NMO mounts.
Tri-Watch Display with Display Sync
The GMRS-20V2 has one built-in receiver that can simultaneously monitor up to three channels (semi duplex).

Mud, snow, rain, or shine you can feel free to use your GMRS-20V2 radio no matter what the weather conditions are. The GMRS-20V2 is fully submersible and protected from the elements no matter where you mount the radio.
Long Range GMRS Radio
The GMRS-20V2 transmits at a maximum power of 20W for GMRS use. In ideal situations (unobstructed use), it can transmit up to 36 miles mobile to handheld, or up to 100 miles with a GMRS repeater.
200 Channels and over 390 Tones
Most FRS and GMRS radios use privacy tones that filter conversations to only what you want to hear. The GMRS-20V2 is compatible with all FRS/GMRS radios and each of their unique tones. The GMRS-20V2 is compatible with all CTCSS (PL) and DCS (DPL) tones. There are over 11,800+ channel combinations available
FM Radio, SOS Alerts, and NOAA Receiver
The GMRS-20V2 includes a built in FM radio. You can still monitor up to three GMRS channels simultaneously and they will interrupt the FM radio when a transmission is received.
Stay prepared! The GMRS-20V2 also has an SOS alarm mode that allows both onsite and broadcasted alarm modes. Quickly toggle to hear your local NOAA broadcast and alerts without any additional programming.
BTECH GMRS-20V2 Enhanced Audio Adaptor Kit
Using the BTECH GMRS-20V2 Enhanced Audio Adaptor Kit you can extend the microphone cable reach by 25 feet allowing you to install the GMRS-20V2 anywhere in your vehicle.
The Enhanced Audio Adaptor Kit includes a K1 accessory adaptor to allow you to use the same audio accessories that are compatible with our handheld radios.
You can also use the GMRS-20V2 hands-free with VOX. You can use the speaker mic or the K1 accessory adaptor to transmit when the radio detects your voice for hands-free operation.
CHIRP Programmable
The GMRS-20V2 is ready to go out of the box, but can be customized further with CHIRP support (custom channel names, custom boot up name, and more).
The GMRS-20V2 uses the PC04 programming cable (not included). Software is Windows, OS X, and Linux compatible.

There are several reasons for returning:1. The user manual was short on detail, especially for the TMR FEATURE (triple watch).2. Btech tech support was not helpful at all when I requested their help concerning this feature. Instead of providing a straight answer, they provided unhelpful, circular, terse replies. After 3 or 4 email exchanges, they said I should return the radio because it is obviously over my head. This is in spite of having programmed other ham radios successfully and having a General Ham license.I am convinced that they have no clue how this feature works or it's programming, either.Other expert reviewers, such as NotaRubicon, found this feature too convoluted to explain.Too bad, too, otherwise a decent rig.So, my advice, avoid this if you want to understand all the features and if you expect straight answers from BTech.

So far this radio is working great. I really like how easy it is to read the screen on the handset, with the text being large enough for old eyes as well as the ability to control some of the color on some of the text to make it even more clear. The benefit of having the controls on the handset is great so I could mount the main body of the radio below my seat and still have all the controls visible and available from the driver's position. Make sure you also order a programing cable for this radio since it doesn't come with one, if you are going to try to hit repeaters that use CTCSS tones (PL codes); while you can program it all from the handset, it sure makes it easier to be able to program repeaters using Chirp (and a programming cable). While it is rated as a 20 watt radio, I was getting about 17 watts on my SWR meter, which is certainly good enough for the purpose.

This radio is perfect for my needs. Even with a stubby Midland antenna on a mag mount, I can easily reach a repeater 23 miles away from my home city—no issues at all. The radio is tiny, which makes it easy to mount just about anywhere, and the fact that all the controls are built into the mic is a huge convenience, especially in tight setups.Another feature I really love is the ability to customize the text colors on the display—it’s a nice touch that adds a bit of personalization and makes it easier to read at a glance.There are a few minor downsides. The mic cable is a little short, but that hasn’t been a problem since I have the unit mounted close by. The screen brightness isn’t adjustable, so it can be pretty bright at night. Also, the menu system isn’t the most intuitive and takes some getting used to.Overall, though, for the price, it’s hard to beat the combination of performance, size, and features this little radio offers. Highly recommended.

I bought the 20V2 to install in a Ford Explorer because of its compact form factor and good programability compared to a more basic radio such as the similar options from Midland. I also was not sure how much I would use a vehicle mounted unit, so was not interested in investing a large amount of money in it. Form factor was critical because my Explorer does not have any practical or convenient place to cleanly mount a traditional mobile two-way radio. I will admit that I was not as enthused with this radio initially, because the speaker/mic is extremely light and hollow feeling, it could use a little extra heft and I was a little skeptical about its performance early on. When I first installed the unit, the main chassis seemed to be running extremely hot at idle, almost burn your fingers if you touched it for too long kind of hot and there seemed to be a lot of bleed over or interference in reception on some of the repeater channels I use. I almost removed it and was going to try finding another option but chose to leave it for a while and then it really grew on me and whatever was causing the chassis to run really hot or the interference in those first couple of days is no longer there, because it is working perfectly and running at a very normal, just slightly warm temperature with no noticeable bleed over or interference. My problems early on may have been something I did myself and did not realize, but I have been very happy with the radio ever since. My only gripe is the awkward hook type hanger for the speaker mic. It should have had a standard speaker mic hanging knob instead, there is even a circle in the molding of the plastic exactly where it should have gone. That problem I resolved by simply installing an aluminum speaker mic knob that I got on Amazon.In summary, is this a high end, high performing radio? No, but at this price point, that should not be expected. In my opinion, the 20V2 is a pretty good value radio for someone needing a very minimal install. The form factor and CHIRP compatibility means that it can be up and running in record time and easily moved between vehicles if needed. I am glad I did not return it after my initial impressions because I have really grown to enjoy using it and it is the perfect combination of form factor and function for my use case.
