I have high iron content in my water. The hot water smelled with the standard anode. Now with this anode there is zero smell. Wish I bought it sooner.

Shipping and arrival was fast for this item. This is the first time I have tried a powered Anode rod. Anything that can make the life of expensive hot water tanks and the anode rods I am down to use. Installation was very easy for this item but you will need a 120 volt outlet nearby to power this anode rod. Installation is a simple as unscrewing the old anode rod, replacing with this anode, take one screw off the top outer lid on the tank and secure it back down with the ground wire. Once you have that done plug the small power cable onto the anode rods top plug, and then plug main power supply cable into the 120 volt outlet and your done. This whole job could take 10 to 15 minutes without a flush. While I had the water tank drain valve open to drain some water I just emptied it and flushed it through the anode rod hole to get a good cleaning. They say you should flush your tank yearly at least. So far we have been using the anode for several weeks and it seems to be working fine. I hope this thing lasts for many years and gets us more life out of out expensive performance water tank. I gave this item 5 stars for ease of use and longevity.

Will see how this performs in the long run. I'm back and forth on using a sacrificial anode since no energy required or using this requiring energy design. Seems like an interesting idea and will keep an eye on and report back if I notice anything else.

The Powered Anode Rod is a more permanent solution than changing a non-powered rod every few years. The photos show the new rod and my old rod. The old rod is less than a year old as I changed the original rod earlier this year. As you can see, these rods degrade fairly quickly.Removing the original rod can be difficult. I started with a socket wrench and a cheater bar which did not work. I than went to a breaker bar for my socket. That didn't work either. Undeterred I bought an impact wrench and that finally loosened the nut on the original rod which was installed on my three-year-old water heater.Assuming you can get the rod off, installation of this rod was easy. Make sure you have an outlet nearby or you will have to run an extension cord. The included cord appears around ten feet long, but you need to split it between the ground and live wire. Plumber's tape is included to wrap the nut before install. It screwed in easily and then I tightened with a breaker bar.Overall, an easy install. I'm reserving a star for longevity. I will check the rod in about a year to determine condition. Assuming good condition this should be my last rod for this water heater. Also, the rod can be easily removed and placed in a new water heater when your heater expires.

Transforming my water heater with this powered titanium anode rod was a game-changer. The immediate benefit was the elimination of that unpleasant "rotten egg" smell, which I hadn't realized was so pervasive until it disappeared. Its titanium construction not only ensures durability but also significantly reduces rust and corrosion inside the tank. This feature gives me peace of mind about the longevity of my water heater, especially for tanks within the 40-89 gallon range. The installation was straightforward, but it required careful reading of the instructions to ensure proper wiring and placement. While it’s a higher upfront cost compared to traditional sacrificial rods, its long-term benefits and maintenance-free operation justify the investment. If you're looking to improve water quality and extend the life of your water heater, this anode rod is an excellent choice.
