So let me just begin by stating that I've had to replace 3 hot water heaters in 6 years. The last warranty repair rep that responded told me that purchasing this product was the best investment I could ever make. I blew it off and 14 moths later, started experiencing failing symptoms again. Electric bill rapidly increasing, pulled and cleaned heating elements, flushed tank and found horrible sediment in the tank. Also while simultaneously experiencing a strange skin outbreak that I've never experienced. After process of elimination, I discovered it was from the hard water and not from a number of other possibilities. I recalled what the warranty technician had informed me of while researching water treatment options. I removed the original anoid, replaced it with this product 7 days ago and now I'm recommending this product to everyone I know. Since swapping for this product I've noticed, night and day difference with water softness, visibly clearer water with no visible sediment, absolutely no smell now, eliminated staining on bathroom surfaces like shower floor, bathtubs, sinks, faucets as well as dishes, best news of all my skin is clearing up. My only regret is not doing it sooner! A little additional context, I do typically service my hot water heater every 6-8 months, check elements and flush. I highly recommend everyone does this to extend the life of your hot water heater as well as keep the temperature turned all the way down. This product supposedly eliminates the need to do these tasks but I'm honestly more of a trust but verify individual so I'll be checking around January again to confirm everything still looks good so hopefully I can update this post then. Additionally I did a deep vinegar clean while simultaneously swapping out the sacrificial anoid for this product. I recommend you do as well if your tank shows signs of excessive sediment. I drained the tank, removed anoid, poured 5 gallons of vinegar into my tank, 24 hours later I flushed the tank twice and installed the new electrified anoid. Installation took 10 minutes or less, little experience required, very simple. I suggest using a better quality pft tape than is supplied, only source of power nearby was a light bulb so I purchased a socket electrical outlet extension and it worked beautifully. Couldn't be happier with this product and the results. P.S. first 2 days I did see a lot of nasty sediment continue to surface in the water but since it all worked its way out... The water looks, feels and smells like I have a high end water treatment system. Also just fyi, I'm on city water, about 3 miles from the treatment plant, very exclusive township whom claim to have the highest water quality. 😂

That installation was a little tricky, mostly due to the large sockets and torque involved to remove the original. But now that it's in, wow! what a difference! No stinky sulferous egg smell at all it was gone in under 24 hrs. The cord was plenty long enough to reach the outlet 6 or 7 ft away. Also the transformer has a bright LED on it to indicate that it's working.

My hot water heater was forming rotten edge smell as soon as I built my new home. After two years, it was so bad I thought I might have to start hauling water. I did extensive research and found I could put two cups of hydrogen peroxide in the hot water heater every month and fix the problem. I plumbed in the piping to allow the introduction of H2O2 into the hot water heater and that fixed the problem. Except I have done it every month for the last 10 years ! As I got older (now 79) this was more and more of a hardship. I found this powered anode and purchased it. I knew it would work from my research but I had no electric outlet in my water heater closet. There was an outlet in the adjacent wall in the garage. I drilled a hole to run the wire and installed the powered anode. It is really easy to install if you know how to find the zinc anode and have the large sockets necessary. I had all those and an impact wrench so it was very easy. I works perfectly and has made my life a little easier - I will never again have to deal with the hot water heater. I don’t have hard water so the zinc anode I removed was still nearly new. If you have rotten egg smell in you hot water do this easy fix and never worry about it again. Make sure to pour a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in the open hole of the anode before you install the new powered anode. That will instantly kill all the bacteria in the hot water heater that was causing the terrible smell. When you fill the tank full again, you will see gallons of dark gray /black water come out the hot water faucet. That is the dead bacteria and oxidized metal precipitates in the water. From then on, you will have fresh clear clean smelling water immediately. The new anode will prevent it from forming again. Use YouTube to find the zinc anode.

I received this electric anode rod in one day and installed it the next day. After removing the old rod I cleaned the threads in the tank and wrapped the threads with teflon tape. A impact with a 6 point socket makes removal easy. After install of the new rod I filled the tank and vented the air out of the tank and noticed water leaking from the top seal. I returned it to Amazon and ordered a replacement. After installing the new rod I noticed water leaking from this one also. I returned this one also and ordered a different brand from Amazon. This brand has internal sealing problems.

Easy install. Liked that the plug in cord was long.
