What's not to love about this set? I have family members who practically live on ramen and love to get creative with their noodles, so this works out so well. Not only do I have fewer dishes (pot, strainer, bowl, frying pan for eggs, etc), but it's so quick and convenient. The fact that there are two sets is even better! These work well, and I was impressed with how well they work in the microwave. And I love that these are dishwasher safe! The price is reasonable, too.

I don't live off ramen or anything, but I do travel a moderate amount and I also like to go camping. I prefer to make my own food when my schedule allows for that. So, I mostly picked these up for business travel and camping. But, since it's a two pack, I think one will end up dedicated to travel/camping and the other probably will be used around the house. Time will tell. I think our LO will like them a lot. They are kind of kid-friendly.They certainly are some sort of plastic and there is some flex to it, but I can't find anywhere that it specifies the material, other than that it's BPA-free. My guess is that they're made from some sort of bio-plastic-like material, derived from wheat straw or something. The color isn't 100% uniform, in that you can see flecks of multiple colors in the molded material, which is consistent with perhaps a recycled plastic. Whatever it is, it microwaves well, does not deform, and it's sturdy enough. Although it is full-sized (holds 40oz) and not exactly travel-sized, the parts do nest nicely for packing, which I appreciate. The design is a bit odd in that you are forced to use the colander if you want the lid. The bowl-shaped lid nests inside the colander for packing, but it will drop into the pot without the colander present. So, if you don't want the colander in your soup, but want to put the lid on it, you need to invert the colander and place the lid on top of the inverted colander, which then sits quite nicely on the pot. I don't really understand that design choice and think it's stupid, but I can work with it. It is part of the reason it's getting 4 stars and not 5.The utensil bag is nice. Padded mesh. It's the nicest part of the whole set, actually. There's a plastic utensil container inside the mesh bag, which seems a bit of an overkill. You don't really need both. The included utensils are all functional, but they're kind of cheapo plastic, made from the same material as the case that holds them. If the mesh bag is the nicest part of this set, the included utensils and the plastic container they come in is the worst part. I won't lose any sleep if I lose or ruin them and I'm rather likely to use a set of titanium utensils instead. The cheapo utensils are the rest of the reason for only giving this 4 stars. But, they work and I guess it's nice that they've included them. But, the bag is a lot nicer than what it contains. I kind of wish that the bowl/colander/lid had a similar bag, as I plan to travel with them. But, this isn't really advertised as a travel item, so I can't fault them for not including a travel bag for the whole thing.I'm not entirely certain that these are worth $20. They're nice and they're useful, but TBH, I think the full asking price is high for a set of plastic bowls and utensils. I'd watch for a sale price or a coupon (I do see that they have one at the moment). But, it's not so out of line that I'm willing to knock off any more than the one star I've already taken off. They're nice enough to recommend. Just catch them on sale or something.

I've paid much more for far less functional "ramen prep' sets. These are designed in a way that allows you to control every aspect of your noodle prep. They also allow for easy microwave prep without turning your noodles into a mushy mess, and you can even put additions in your noodles or soup base. They set is incredibly easy to use. The bowls are roomy enough to allow for a variety of ramen types and brands. Their design allows you to easily strain your noodles without additional hardware or risking the "fork" method. Two colors are included also allowing me to designate one for regular noodles and the other for the spicy stuff.Clean up is a breeze as well. With everything separated, and the material the bowls are made of, you don't have to worry about scraping stuck noodles, staining, or that various other issues that can arise depending on what type of ramen you like to make. The build quality is also quite nice and scratches and cracks are not something you will have to worry about for quite some time.

Where has this set been all my life? This set is really FANTASTIC!I eat a LOT of ramen - of all brands and varieties. I've used a fair amount of different ramen cookers but I've never been impressed with a set like I am with this set!You get 2 bowls, 2 colanders, 2 lids, 2 sets of chopsticks, forks and spoons, 2 carrying cases for your utensils. ALSO - 2 REALLY NICE drawstring mesh bags to keep your utensils nice and neat when you're traveling.First, you MUST use the colander/strainer or the lid will not go on the bowl. It falls into the bowl.I do not eat my ramen as a side dish, I eat it as a soup - complete with the broth that the noodles cook in.Therefore, I do not need the colander but I do need the lid so I put the noodles in the colander the first time I used this.Experimenting, I tried making the soup in the bottom and inverting the colander, then placing the lid over the colander. It works beautifully! See the photos. There are two ways you can use these cookers.1) You can put the dry noodles and water into the bowl, cover it and microwave it.2) You can put the noodles into the bowl and pour in boiling water. Cover the bowl tightly and let it set so the hot water can cook your soup.I prefer the second method. It has a nice, colorful instruction sheet enclosed too.About the utensils - the chopsticks work well. My daughter will only eat ramen using chopsticks so these will definitely be used. The plastic spoon and fork are not my idea of utensils I'm willing to eat off of. I threw out the forks and spoons and replaced them with my own metal forks and spoon. It's a personal preference. The metal utensils I prefer fit nicely into the carrying case included with the sets.At first glance, you might think the price tag of $19.99 is too much money. However, considering everything included in this set, the price is very fair!MADE IN CHINA.
