I used the thing one time before today, it is mounted to a trailer that has not moved from my driveway, I went to use it today and the swivel BLEW OFF. The threads stripped because it is made of extremely cheap material. Don't purchase, it is bad.

The cheap bearings on this, well they work just fine, they are cheap bearings though so keep that in mind. The threaded tube in this unit is 3/4" NPT, not GHT, so when attaching my hose to the inside I had to cut the hose, use a 3/4" NPT female to 3/4" hose barb and a hose clamp to get it all connected. Now, thats not really why I gave this 2 stars.I gave this a 2 star rating because the outflow side of the tube, the side that goes through the pillow block bearing, was not welded into the carousel straight- it has a 1/8" wobble as it rotates, which is annoying. That same tube is very very thin, it should be a thicker gauge tubing for the threads they needed to cut into it, so they tried to circumvent this by not cutting the 3/4" npt threads very deep and the tube is slightly undersized (Likely 18mm).This creates 2 problems: 1. you have to tighten on the swivel to the very end of the threads until the inside facet of the swivel meets with the end of the pipe, and you have to use more teflon tape than you should have to.AKA, it is a very loose fit.2. The swivel is complete garbage. You tighten it down, it leaks, add more teflon tape, it leaks. Add a garden hose gasket, it no longer leaks but unscrews itself. Remove the gasket and wrench it down, then the side that is suppose to swivel unscrews itself.I ended up getting a different kind of swivel, one that uses a perforated internal pipe with 3/4" NPT male on one end, and the swivel portion is a square manifold held on the 3/4" internal tube with a snap ring and ends at 90 degrees in a 3/4" GHT female. I coupled that swivel with a 3/4" NPT double female fitting. All in all, it was a major PITA. but it works really well now.

I purchased this hose reel in April 2024. The item is not all stainless steel and immediately begins to rust. The fittings are not useful because they are ill fitting, at best, and leak. I purchased fittings from the hardware store to make it function. The reel does hold 300' feet of hose, but the handle is not very strong to adequately handle this amount. I have three other garden hose reels from different manufactures and have no issues with those. This one is a big disappointment. I would not purchase again. The seller did provide a partial refund. I would not purchase again, even if deeply discounted, nor recommend it to others.

I’m a contractor, I know how to make things work, I thought.. , ok so some of these people can’t get it to work, no prob, . . . .but I couldn’t, Generally 1/2 to 3/4 fittings will work, in fact they come with adapters for those sizes, but the barb fitting which you have to use to make it work. . . .is 7/8.I have a solution but it would cost a good junk of the value of the unit itself. I really wanted this to workBtw if you have a way to swivel a 3/4 pipe fitting and connect it to a hose fitting, then this will work for you by bypassing the part that comes with it, it would work fine, because it doesn’t come with it. I didn’t even keep trying. And a dishwasher connection which is 7/8 but won’t work (because I tried].

Unlike the cheap, short-life plastic hose reels found in most hardware stores in the U.S., this hose reel is sturdy metal, yet lightweight. It literally comes from China, via rowboat I think, as it took a month to reach my doorstep. But, for the price, it is worth the wait. The unit requires assembly and no instructions come with it. However, if you have an ounce of mechanical aptitude it is easy to put together. An assortment of hose fittings are included with it, but nothing that I found useful, so a trip to your friendly hardware store will be required. As stated, the unit is made of sturdy metal with the exception of the crank handle that turns the reel. The jury is still out on that part. It is made of a thin strip of metal and looks like it could easily break from the torque applied while cranking in the hose. My hose is heavy duty, so time will tell. If it breaks I will be forced to invent something stronger.
