Your cart is empty. The perfect accessory for the portrait photographer, the Fotodiox beauty dish uniquely diffuses light to provide high output with moderate feathering. Unlike a softbox or a reflector which has an "illuminating" surface, the beauty dish has a circle of light with an opaque center and an internal light shield that allows bounce-only lighting. How does the beauty dish compare to a softbox? As the beauty dish is smaller, it will result in less-soft shadows. It will also provide moderate round catch lights in the eyes, where a softbox will yield larger rectangular catch lights. The Fotodiox beauty dish uses a parabolic reflector in 80 degree angle to focus light towards a wrapped area.
The Fotodiox Pro Beauty Dishes also come with a diffusion 'sock' for further controlling the sharpness of shadows. You can use soft diffuser cover and honeycomb grid to further change the light pattern, creating a wrapped, contrasted look, which adds a very dramatic effect. The Fotodiox 50° Honeycomb Grid contains the light to a more tubular pattern, for more of a spot light effect without light spill.

So I've been using a 22inch dish for many years. I didn't like having to use a adapter to mount the Bowens dish to the AD300. So I gave this 18inch a try. I couldn't tell that I was using a smaller dish as the shadows looked the same between the 22 and 18 inch.I like that it is light weight and it also comes with a nice grid. Will definitely be using my AD300 more often

I paid $87 for the 18" one.The good:The dish itself seems like it's in good shape. White coated interior. Looks pretty durable. Very easy to put together. Great for my purposes. Light quality seems nice.The Not So Great.....I'm a bit disappointed in the honeycomb grid. Mine seemed ever-so-slightly too small for the opening. It's not a secure fit. Once I was able to pop it on, it pulled the grid ring and damaged it some. I don't think it'll affect lighting quality right now. If it continues to pull away from the ring over time, it could turn into a problem. For $40, I can deal with something like that. For nearly $90, I don't think it's ideal. The diffusion cloth seems a bit cheap, but that's not a big deal.

I was going back and forth on getting a beauty dish at this point, but I've been watching too many Lindsay Adler tutorials, so I had to try it, and I am glad I went for it. I've been playing with this since I got it and the crazy dramatic portraits I can take with the grid are awesome. I would recommend a beauty dish to anyone who is looking for a look that's a little different than a softbox, and like I said, the grid can make things really dramatic.

For the price, this is a great beauty dish! I’ve used on multiple occasions and it is still holding up nicely! It’s taken a couple of falls as well and there was no noticeable damage. The only thing about it I don’t like is removing the included honey comb grid. It’s difficult to remove and is pretty easy to bend and deform.

I just received this beauty dish from Fotodiox was hoping it would be a nice unit but upon inspection, it came damaged the acc speed ring and deflector pack were packed in-between the dish and honeycomb which ruined the honeycomb and scratched the reflector. also the way shape of thisdish and the rigid mount on the the deflector course for light leak and uneven light distribution on dish. this design creates hot spots. and makes it un usable as a light source modifier for my uses.was really hoping this would be a good modifier i have used other products from Fotodoix but this unit just does not cut it.I have the 28" version arriving soon hopefully this will be better.

It attaches to my Bowens 500R without an issue. The diffuser and egg crate work like a charm too. Good buy!
