I like the potential of this bot a little bit more than review suggests. I am breezing through pool vacs trying to find the perfect one. What I have not discovered is a cordless bot that has a paper filter option. The amount of "sand" that accumulates on the bottom of my pool after an algae bloom is hard to manage with this standard filter basket. Now, besides for that, this bot is five stars. Suction is superb. It cleans the majority of anything on the bottom of the pool. It does an excellent job scrubbing the walls. It is design incredibly well and I expect years of service provided it is as durable as the warranty suggests. The app does not work while the bot is under water but when it rises it there is no problems. For the money, this bot hits the sweet spot.

When I first received this machine, it showed a red light after turning it on. I tried several times but the red light was still there. I was thinking about returning it. Then I decided to take a look at the user manual and also contacted Dreame customer support. They told me to connect the machine to the app and update the software. After doing that, it started working properly. Now it’s running well and I’m very satisfied with it.

I really like this pool robot. I've been trying it out in my pool for quite a while, and I want to test its performance comprehensively. I've been observing it for about an hour. When it was cleaning the pool walls, it really surprised me. I mean, it walked sideways on the walls, just like a crab. It was truly amazing. I saw in the promotion that this product has a powerful suction and I guess that's why it can stay on the walls for a long time. Also, underwater, it has a navigation system and walks along the set route. I have to say that this is a really smart robot. I hope I can rely on it to clean my pool this summer. I usually just use a skimmer net myself and run the filtration system to keep it clean. Leaves and tiny debris always settle on the bottom, and that part is such a pain. This robot has seriously helped out, though. Yeah, it was a bit pricey, but it does know what it’s doing. It just follows its little path, cruising around and cleaning—total set-it-and-forget-it stuff. When I pulled it out of the pool last night, I was shocked by how much crud was in the debris basket. Like, there were all these tiny pieces of dirt and leaves. Honestly, I’m really impressed—way more than I thought I would be. Super happy with how it’s working so far!

Update May 9, 2025:I'm updating this review, changing from 2 stars to 1 star, due to constant harassment from the Dreame Z1 team. I understand reaching out to customers offering assistance on a product that didn't meet their expectations, but I have received no less than a dozen emails from two different Dreame representatives.Dreame CSR's -- if someone does not answer your first, second, third, or fourth email message that is not your green light to email them ten more times using two different email accounts.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Original unedited review below:I’ve tested a few different pool cleaners in this price range, and after seeing a thousand hype videos on social media I had high hopes for the Dreame Z1. Unfortunately, after two passes, the bot has failed to live up to its expectations. It starts out like every other wireless robot: unbox, charge overnight, download app, pair with phone, update firmware, select cleaning mode, drop in pool, and wait. Bots with similar features – bottom, wall, and waterline – typically run two hours. The Dreame Z1 is running 145 minutes and using 87% of its battery. While we’re on the topic of power, I like its magnetic charging port. The Dream Z1 does a good job at cleaning the bottom. My pool is old, has very basic features, and dirt tends to accumulate in two areas. At the end of the cleaning cycle the dirt is gone. Where it fails is wall and waterline scrubbing. The front brush moves slower than any bot, of any price, I’ve tested. It also misses 50% of the waterline. The Dreame app isn’t bad, its easy to use, and it actually notified me when the cleaning cycle was complete. The bot parks itself on top, near a wall, waiting for you to retrieve it. Should batteries run out a hook is included in the box.Do I recommend the Dreame Z1? No. When compared to other pool cleaning robots at the same price point it fails to compare.
