The receive sensitivity is much lower than other radio manufacturer's and is very noisy even on strong repeaters that are clear using other HT's. I am very displeased with this radio for that reason, other than that, the other options are very nice. The big 5200 MAh battery has so much longevity to it that I was never able to fully discharge it while working local repeaters. Even after a weeks usage the battery still showed 3/4 charged still. The included options, hand mic, belt clip, soft case, small duck antenna, and wrist strap are good. I was able to run through the radio menu and program several repeaters without looking through the included user manual, but more advanced options will require consulting the menu for programming instructions. The larger speaker has a pleasant audio sound to it, and has a better audio range than the smaller Baofeng handy talkies. The display is easy on the eyes but washes out in the sunlight.Over all I do like the radio, it is big and heavy because of the large Lithium-Ion battery, but since the receive sensitivity is so low I had to rate the radio with only 2 stars. Thinking that it was a radio issue, I returned the first one and replaced it with a second HT, only to verify the issue was in the manufacturer and not isolated to a single radio. If Baofeng would correct the receive sensitivity issues at the manufacturing level, my rating would be much higher.I have returned the unit back to Amazon and will search for another HT that has better sensitivity. At least the price of the unit as a whole with all the cool options did not break the bank. I hope this review was helpful and will save the frustration I experienced with both of the Baofeng UV-25 Plus's I had.

This updated UV-25 Pro 12w is a pretty nice upgrade from the BF-F8HP (UV-5R) styles that I currently have. It is about double the size in all dimensions and actually has some heft to it. The speaker is pretty crisp and clear, the protected volume knob is a nice touch. The HT comes with a stubby and a flexible antenna, and the stubby has been a really good performer, right up there with a branded Nagoya antenna. The GPS is a bit of a niche thing, but I can see how it would come in handy. This radio gave me some trouble in CHIRP, until I saw that others state that it has to be read under UV-17R Pro GPS. It has had excellent performance so far, and the USB-C rechargeable battery has been amazing in its battery life so far. This is definitely not the typical Baofeng radio, it demands a bit more respect. For those that don't know, this radio does NOT need a license to **LISTEN**, but be aware - if you live in the US you'll need your FCC license to **TRANSMIT**. While programming in CHIRP, you can lock out the transmission function and listen in, but that essentially makes this a pricey scanner.NEGATIVE: I have no clue why they bother to list the Air Band in these radios - DO NOT GET THIS FOR LISTENING TO AIR TRAFFIC. This is a FM transceiver radio, Air Band communications happen on AM. Yes, the frequencies are the same, but this radio does not demodulate AM communications. Shame on you Baofeng, kind of a turd move claiming it would listen in on Air Band correctly.

I have the first UV-25 and it's a work horse with that huge battery and amazing speaker. Then I saw the new UV-25 pro GPS. The GPS was the only thing lacking in my first UV-25 as I find it mandatory in a handheld as of late. I first got hooked on the GPS feature with the Radtel RT-490. One key press and you get your GPS coordinates. This new UV-25 uses regular GPS and Baidou. It's also wicked fast to grab the coordinates compared to my Radtel. I am buying another for one of my ham licensed kids. This radio comes with two antennas, the standard flex with the fake end cap and a stubby. I put on the stubby when I was Chirping it (Note: use 17R pro gps in Chirp) and when I was done I tried it out. I was able to hit six repeaters in my area with that included 2 inch stubby. Color me impressed.

This is a review of the Baofeng UV-25 GPS Amateur RadioOne thing that needs to be clarified is this is NOT a walkie-talkie for normal communications. The description as with most Baofeng products fails to clarify that this is a Amateur Radio Communication Radio and while it is legal to own and use for reception, if requires a FCC lic for transmission, which I have, broadcasting without the lic can cost up to $20K fine - so please dont expect to buy and use this without the lic, it is easy to obtain. With that being said, having been lic for about 20 or more years, this is a very cumbersome radio to setup and use. It does NOT come with a programming cable which must be bought separately at around $20-30 .It can be programmed manually, but the menu setup and commands are very confusing, the programming cable and third party open sourced programming software will make transferring the needed repeated information, offsets easier. And downloading that info from repeater book or other sources can be a life saver, even transferring from other radios.I do not like the SQL feature, it is hidden in the menus and is not easily changed, I like the old fashioned rotary knob for quick SQL control. Also the on/off volume knob is rather hard to use. Almost feels like mine has been bent, there is a crew on top so maybe it is for adjusting. But the whole upper on/off knob seems large and cumbersome to me.There are a lot of features I plan to test over the next few weeks and I can update this review. For one I do not believe the stated transmitting power is correct. If so I am not inclined to have 12w be transmitted so close to my body, 10W and above I start looking for remote antennas. But I suspect the output would be 8w or less, typical for most of Baofeng radios, regardless of transmission claims. For now two things to note:1. this is not a walkie talkie for average use, to transmit you will need a FCC lic,2. As with moth Baofeng radios, it is a cheaper radio meant to flood the market so expect there to be complications and issues.
