We are picking up a lot more channels than we did with the old folding antenna. Rotation is easy if installed correctly and it seems to lock solidly for travel. I wish I had read the review about the “loose nut” before sealing the base in place because I did not check this one. Hopefully that one was a fluke and ours has no issues with coming apart during travel. The base is obviously of a different shape and size than the old one do I had to use extra sealant to cover to the old area, but that was no big deal.

This is a replacement for a previous OEM Winegard antenna on our travel trailer roof. The old one was a weak fixed multidirectional unadjustable antenna that just didn’t make the mark with regard to DTV reception. I was especially concerned about getting better reception during severe weather forecasts while camping in unfamiliar places. The Install: Removed old antenna. I expected a tiny hole with coax coming out. Not so. Coachman had cut a 2” diameter hole in the roof for the coax. So, the new Razor did not have to have a roof hole cut. The large base more than covered the old hole. Yes!But a hole DID have to be cut in the ceiling since the Razor rotates and is directional. So, after examining for any wires that might be present, I put the longest, narrowest bit in my battery drill and went straight down, poking a small hole in my ceiling over the center of the 2” roof hole. Then I went inside and cut a 1.5” hole below with the drill, centered on the tiny hole. (NOTE: Instructions call for a 1 3/4” hole to give a little leeway if you don’t quite hit the two holes center to center. Besides, I did not have that size bit.)A hard plastic axle goes up through the roof to connect to the antenna. It has to be cut 1/2 inch above the ceiling in order for the antenna to push and lock from the inside turning knob. I carefully cut it with my Dremmel. Then installed the knob. Tested rotation. Then sealed the roof unit with Balludin RV roof caulk. The Results: Reception greatly improved. It sensed 70 TV stations and clearly received all DTV UHF channels in the Pensacola FL/Mobile AL TV market area. VHF channels (like WALA Ch 10) were not received as well. In the scan, I aimed the antenna right at the antenna farm, which begins 25 miles NW of here in Baldwin County, AL. I can tell you that once beyond 45 miles, stations became more difficult to receive, especially VHF stations. Fortunately, there is just one VHF channel here.Since it does not improve VHF reception, I assume this antenna is more designed for UHF reception. The old Winegard antenna had a metal base. This one is plastic. Hopefully it holds up under wind pressures and UV. That’s why the four stars.

Bought this as a 'like for like' replacement for my original unit which was damaged by a low tree. The device is a proprietary Winegard product. It also comes with new coaxial cables, connection internal faceplate and other peripherals for a total new installation.

The batwing antenna achieved 11 channels at our home location that came with our RV. The Winegard antenna achieved up to 22 channels. This will change as the locations change when we camp but I was thrilled with the improvement. The most work was removing the sealant so the batwing antenna could be removed. The existing cables were used, which made setup easy. I adapted the base to a plastic mount that held the batwing antenna by drilling holes in the base to match existing screw holes in the plastic base then used butyl sealant before connecting the antenna to the base and sealing around the base and on the screws and any existing holes with Dicor self leveling sealant. When you travel, you turn the antenna by the interior dial to travel mode so the rounded portion is facing the front of the RV to make it more aero dynamic. The interior dial has an arrow showing what direction to turn it until it stops. I put a mark on the dial, when in this position, to show me that position as I rotate it for signals. The pictures show the direction I was pulling in channels when I did a channel scan, which has to be done each time you change locations. I love the fact I don’t have to higher or lower the antenna! This antenna has a 350 degree rotation. If anything changes from this review as I am using it when we camp, I will update this review. As of right now, I’m quite pleased with it.

Originally ordered a King Omnidirectional to replace the Winegard that was ripped off the roof but wasn't able to get any channels after setup with the King Antenna so went back to the original stock antenna and works as advertised. Unlike the King you don't need the additional mounting plate just screw it on to the roof were the old one was and seal, very easy to install.

Love the picture and reception of our new antenna! We live 90 miles from the nearest TV station- and all 3 networks are the same distance away. This antenna gave us the ability to pick up all 3 main networks CBS, NBC, ABC and even PBS as well as several more channels. With this antenna the stations are all so clear, much clearer than our cable picture used to be. We tried the indoor "mount on wall" antennas first, and they worked for awhile, as long as the weather was good. If anything touched it though they would make the picture fuzzy. My husband mounted this outdoor antenna on our old existing metal tower on the roof. It took him very little time and seemed pretty easy. We rarely need to rotate the antenna but it's nice to have the option. Overall, we're satisfied with the performance so far. He thought it was so easy to install that he recommended our neighbors get this antenna, and when it arrived he volunteered to climb their tower and mount theirs too. With this model, outdoor mounting, we're back to watching our favorite shows again and even caught all the Olympics this year! Thank you!

These antennas work far better than expected. Having the Winegard name implies good engineering, and the RZ-6000 does not disappoint. It works at least as well as their better known Sensar antenna variants, without having the ugly and vulnerable tilting post and their height which pretty much guarantees severe potential damage if the RV is accidentally moved with the antenna raised. The Rayzar sits close to the roof without noticeably compromising performance to any significant degree. The one limitation on the Rayzar's effectiveness is it's inability to receive transmissions with vertical polarization correctly, a fact shared with many of the Sensar range antennas, but even then if the signal is strong enough the performance is still adequate. All in all, an easy to install, effective antenna at a very good price point when compared with similar antennas in the Winegard range
