Felt more fragile than expected. They work perfectly and look great on our deck.

DESCRIPTION:This is a set of four solar-powered lanterns, which provide either a steady amber or a flickering flame effect.————————ASSEMBLY:No assembly is needed. Prepare for use by turning the switch to either light mode selection and place in the sun for charging. Both the instruction sheet and the molded legend next to the switch are incorrect. They say the switch is two position, but it is a three-position switch. OFF is in the center. Slide the switch to the left for steady amber light. Slide the switch to the right for the flickering flame effect. There is a light sensor built into the solar panel, so if you want to test the lantern in daylight, just cover the solar panel with your hand so the sensor thinks it is dark out.————————HOW I USED IT:We use these around the campsite when we go camping, for general illumination, and to help us find the campsite when we are at a state park with has no lighting. We replaced some similar battery lanterns. These we can just leave ON all the time. With battery lanterns, we had to run around and turn them on at dusk, and remember to turn them off when going to bed; plus we were always replacing batteries.————————PLUS POINTS:The flicker effect is very subtle. It's not flashy like a tiki torch. It is perhaps 90% as bright as the full on mode. The bail handle has a bend at the top so it will hang straight. The bail handle also has an alligator clip attached so it can be hung from a wire, branch, or a cup holder. The top can be removed easily if you need to clean the inside, and it snaps back into place with a positive catch.————————MINUS POINTS:Both the instruction sheet and the molded legend next to the switch are incorrect. They say the switch is two position, but it is a three-position switch. OFF is in the center.————————OVERALL:Very pleased with these lanterns, when we arrive at a campsite we just place them in the sun to charge, then move to desired locations at dusk. If you are using battery lanterns, consider switching to these!
