Although it doesn’t function, the craftsmanship is top-notch. I bought it for my garage display and it looks fantastic next to my car memorabilia.

I just pieced one together with my grandson. All the parts are there, as well as additional parts. Everything is perfect.

Got to the end. Missing 2 pieces, can't finish. On step 160 of 166. I am missing two pieces. Debating on sending back, and will leave it mostly assembled if i have to. What a disappointment.

Piece mating is well on spec. Instructions are clear and easy to follow.I've done many of MK's engine kits as well as a few other random branded ones. This engine ki there is the least complex out of the nearly dozen I've done, making it also one of the smoothest and fastest. To wit I'd consider it a good entry level kit save for two issues; the chain drive and the crankshaft. The chain drive issue is that the design works on paper, the spacing is correct and the torque is reasonable for the components. But in practice it was a persistent point of failure due to an inability to maintain alignment. The problem rests in the simplicity of the design such that the axel connections holding the gears in the chain drive each have enough play in them to eventually cause skips in the chain which shortly thereafter either cause a jam or a break. I fixed it three times before changing the chain drive out with regular gearing to maintain the entire power takeoff motion. I had to use spare parts from my own collection to do this. The crankshaft issue stems from the connecting axels on either side simply having too little bite at each end of the crankshaft and too much float in the assembly overall. Each and every single time I powered up the engine one or both of those connecting axels came loose resulting in the pistons coming out and the engine getting jammed. The fix here was a tiny dab of superglue at each axel connection. I had to disassemble a good portion of the bottom end in order to accomplish this as access to the pistons in the fully built model is very limited. The led light strip connections are extremely delicate. I broke mine clean off during one of the aforementioned repairs.

With all of the noise and frustrations associated with daily life, these kits are a great way for kids and adults alike to take a step back and focus on something else. Overall the kit is detailed, entertaining enough, and challenging without being frustration. Good quality.
