So my connection on both my PC and my laptop are only a 1GB port. So I upgraded to a 2.5 GB service.Making sure I was using the 2.5GB connection on the modem (as the other 3 were only 1GB ports).So I bought this unit that stated it was a 2.5GB unit. I was excited to try this out. So I connected it and downloaded the latest drivers and made sure it updated corrected. Rebooted and went to test this, this dropped my speed even further then my 1GB port. Tried this on my laptop and had the same result.Thinking it was a ISP issue I had a tech come to my place, he verified that my speed was correct and even went a little higher as well. Even placed a filter to ensure that I had a good feed, we tried the unit and dropped the speed and no increase ... dropped it to around 200Mbps and with my 1GB port was running close to 1GBs on my 2.5 GB service .. issue is with the unit. I will try another brand.

T'was plug and play on my machine using the USB A adapter.Iperf tested for 10 minutes and it got warm but not too hot to stop working, and the speed over that test was ~95% of the speed of the shorter tests, so seems stable under load.No issues.

Must search the the realtek chip drive related to this model and update to latest drivers or it constantly disconnects you from the internet. The chipset is RTL8156B. Make sure you download the drivers from the realtek website. Also worth downloading their diagnostic tool and checking the version before and after installation to make sure it changed.Kind of a hassle but finally have 0 disconnect issues since updating driver

It is very easy to install. When connecting to a usb port of my laptop, it is showed as a cdrom and the driver files is in the cd. Just run the installation file and my laptop recognizes it automatically.I have a old laptop that only has a 100Mbps network card. Adding this to my laptop usb port made the transfer speed more than 10 times faster. I have only 1Gbps switch so the speed should be faster when connecting to a 2.5Gbps switch.

The dongle has a built in installer that runs the first time you plug it in. Makes the setup a breeze. I have used this on a Windows laptop with no issues. Works great!

As the headline says this does not work on Nintendo Switch, docked, or handheld, if that's what you are looking for (This was not promised anywhere but none of these dongles care Nintendo Switch exists so it's never mentioned and we can only gamble). I tested fully powering down the Switch and rebooting it, with wifi enabled in case they secretly look for drivers or anything, and it was never recognized.Plugging it into a Windows 10 PC for the first time showed a secret harddrive "CD Drive" partition available to install a driver from. However Windows 10 identified it, without going online for Windows Updates from another source of internet, and got it installed and connected me to my wired network. Curiously once the dongle noticed it was installed the CD Drive (which was never executed) disappeared and was not available.Originally I was throttled to 150mb/s, but I went to Device Manager and removed the Realtek Gaming Ethernet (did not check the box to remove the driver also, I left it installed). Unplugged and replugged this device, it installed again, and it now functions on PC at the maximum speed of my ISP (300mb/s down).Since it doesn't work on the Switch I wasn't able to test if the USB C mode works, or how it's installation goes.The -1 star was due to the quirk with having to uninstall it to get the proper speed from it. I wouldn't remove a star due to not working with a device that was never promised.
