i have a slow battery draw on my vintage car i can't solve and it causes my battery to drain after a few days without operation but this thing allows me to easily disconnect when not in use and my battery doesn't drain now, great and useful item.

I tested this out and it works fine as a battery disconnect. Very easy install using a 14mm socket and wrench. The coating is poor as noted in another review, and it is pretty flimsy. It's also bulky so I wasn't able to use it in my intended vehicle unless I use a smaller battery.

I use my ski boat less than the pontoon. Installed this on the ski boat motor to keep it from running down or leaking. Helps keep the battery ready for a quick start.

It doesn't get any easier. Install this on one of your terminals (most likely your positive end, but not always in all situations) and you've got yourself a battery that will no longer drain provided you've got no other vampire loads or wires coming off the battery not on this new terminal.

The male end is hollow, which hasn't been a problem at all, just worth noting. The cut off switch works well, I have 2, I use them on my car so I don't have to constantly disconnect and reconnect my battery. I put it on the neg terminal.

This is a great way to disconnect my boat battery without having to dig out tools. I don't like to keep the battery connected when hauling the boat, or letting it sit over the winter. Now it's simple with just the turn of the switch. This disconnect went easily on the negative post of my boat battery. It has a smooth action when changing positions. I installed it across the top of the battery for vibration support. No more hooking and unhooking the wire, and no possibility of draining the battery if something is left/bumped on.

This battery disconnect was supposed to fix a problem with my old pickup that keeps draining it's battery. First, there are no installation instructions, but it's pretty straight forward. It was going well until I tried to tighten the bolt around the cable and...snap! The bottom of the bracket broke off. So this is a definite no from me.

I’ve got an older pickup that doesn’t get driven much, and sits outside where it isn’t practical to put it on a trickle charger, so we solved the problem by disconnecting the negative lead from the battery terminal. That works, but requires me having a wrench handy to reconnect it when needed. This switch should solve the problem. This is a simple enough device, and you can see from one of my pix that I took it apart to understand how it works. Simply, the red knob turns an internal copper plate. In the “on” position, the plate connects the circuit, but rotate it 90 degrees, and the circuit is cut. They cleverly put some grease on the plate so that it rotates freely, and it is spring loaded to make certain that the plate makes contact.I am highly sceptical of the claims of “all copper” terminals as the terminals appear to be (poorly) plated with something that sure doesn’t look like copper. The rotating plate, however, appears to be solid copper. I had contemplated drilling into the terminals just to see, but I’m installing this, so I don’t want to damage it just to find out. I’m also concerned about this being cantilevered off the side of my battery neg terminal as that will put stress on the black plastic frame. Time will tell…and I’ll update if any issues.PROS: simple design and constructionCONS: copper????ACCURACY OF AMAZON LISTING: mediumBOTTOM LINE: should work just fineI’ll update this review over time should things change.
