I had a hard time giving this Battery Disconnect Switch from the Hogurin Store 4 stars, but ultimately the $4.49 price was the deciding factor.My main issue with it is the switch. Normally a switch direction is pointed in the direction of flow. This switch is on when it is in the off position and vice-versa.It works by separating the contacts when you turn it off, and closes the contacts together when you turn it on. With a T shaped switch it's easier to turn than a knob would be. Plus you don't have to be looking directly at it to know if it's on or off, you can tell by the feel.The opening for the battery post is large enough to put on the positive post, but standard practice is to put it on the negative side. They give you 2 lead shims to insert between the locking bolt and the negative post to take up the gap. It worked really well for my application and held securely.This unit is more compact than other disconnects I've purchased. The length is shorter than the battery and height only protrudes approximately 1 inch above the battery post, so this should fit under the hood of a car nicely. I'm using mine on a boat battery and feel it's a big improvement over the knife type I'm replacing. However, this one is rated at 3 amps which is quite low and frankly, I would be surprised if that rating is correct. So at that rating this would not be suitable for a vehicle. I am using it on a deep cycle battery that won't be drawing much current so I think it will work well in my circumstance. But, again, I think that rating is a typo. Best to check with the seller first.No instructions included.
