Troubleshooting and Maintenance Tips

  • Check for Clogs: Inspect and clean filters, drain baskets, and the drain hose to prevent clogs.
  • Inspect the Drain Pump: Listen for unusual noises and ensure the pump is working properly. Remove any debris from the pump area.
  • Clean the Air Gap: Ensure the air gap is clear of debris to prevent backflow.
  • Verify Hose Connections: Make sure the drain hose and connections are secure and not kinked.
  • Test the Drain Valve: Ensure the drain valve is functioning properly and opening and closing as it should.

Common Issues

  • Dishwasher Not Draining: Often caused by clogs in the hose, pump, or filter. Check for blockages and clear them.
  • Water Backing Up: Could be due to a problem with the air gap or check valve. Inspect these components for issues.
  • Slow Draining: Might indicate a partially clogged drain hose or filter. Clean and inspect the components.

Exact replacement! Cheaper than some places but still overpriced for what it is.

Drian pump motor appears to be an exact replacement. In my case this is a future install job. I have replaced two drain pump motors on a Kenmore dishwasher thinking that failed pump motor was the only issue. During the replacements I cleared the drain hose at the outlet in the disposal and vacuumed out the dishwasher drain area to remove any foreign material. It was pretty discouraging to have the last drain pump motor failing after only a few weeks. This time I removed the discharge tube/elbow in order to clear the check-valve if sticking. What I found was a fairly large piece of glass laying in the discharge of the pump housing. This was the problem all along. This piece of glass was clear and flat which made my previous inspections incomplete. Next time (if there is a next time) I'll take time to be more thorough.

Direct replacement part, comes with new seal and works as expected, smoother operation than OEM part due to more fins on pump.

Our Kitchenaid dishwasher model KDTE104DSS0 stopped draining. Checked the water line and inside the tub and found nothing blocking them so I ordered this part. Repair man said this was a common problem and quoted me $300 over the phone! Another said he'd use my part and charge me $110 labor. He didn't show up, so I watched a few videos on youtube and have to say the placement of my pump was incredibly easy and took five minutes. I was able to reach under the unit, disconnect it and twist and replace with the new pump without removing anything but the kick plate and without sliding the dishwasher out. It drains great again thanks to this $27 part that repair guys said cost $50 to $90. Go for it and save a few bucks!

Had some glass get stuck in my old pump which caused it to burn out (still do not understand why they do not have a fuse or something to stop it from failing) and looked around for a new pump. This pump was an exact fit and easy to install. I had the old one out and new one in (after cleaning up the water) in about 45 minutes. The mess from cleaning up the water and making sure I got all of the glass out, but if I didn't have to do that it would have been about ten minutes to change out the motor.

As I was packing up my tools I realized I had only used a pair of pliers, my screw gun and a nut driver for a hose clamp. The motor was an exact replacement connected via a bannet mount. Works quiet and solved my issue. Thank you amazon for delivering this part to my mailbox. Quicker than waiting for the repairman and sitting around babysitting them while they do what any handy person can do themselves.
