I love this, It works out of the box and is such a time saver. My only con, is that, this is the second one I've purchased. They don't last long. The one before this lasted a few months, this one lasted a little longer but now will not charge or take a hard charge. The trouble shooting instructions are not for this unit so looks like another robot to recycle.

Works terrible, never in a month has it picked up a single leaf or anything out of the pool

This is such a great option if you're a lazy pool owner like me! You charge it up once, and then let it do it's thing. The solar charging works great. Between my traditional skimmer and this guy, my pool never has stuff floating on top. It has been great for removing smaller debris like cottonwood, pollen, dog hair, etc that the skimmer a lot of times doesn't capture. The negatives- it gets easily redirected by the pool's flow of water. Any time it gets near a jet, the water will push it away, and therefore it will miss corners of the pool, because it's not smart enough to go in the opposite direction.THIS ONLY CLEANS THE SURFACE OF THE POOL. The description is very confusing by calling this a pool cleaner, and I do not agree. This is a robot SKIMMER, not a robot pool cleaner. For $399, this is way overpriced for a skimmer in my opinion.

This is one smart skimmer! Sporting a clever industrial design, this robotic pool skimmer effectively removes virtually all the surface debris from my 20’ X 40’ free-form pool in about three hours of completely unattended operation.Even after an overnight windstorm that, in my yard, blew a bunch of oleander blossoms, citrus leaves, and palm seeds into the pool, the NIHOO Robot was able to remove almost all the visible debris and the always present micro-trash that typically falls out of the air. Bird feathers, dead bugs, most pollen, and other floating dust all accumulate in the under-belly basket with remarkable effectiveness. The basket, then, just slides out in a simple motion, and is emptied into the trash with a quick shake followed by a garden hose rinse. It amazes me how much more tiny trash this cleaner traps than traditional hand skimming with a pool pole and net.I have now had the chance to run the skimmer on a windy afternoon and also while the in-floor cleaning jets were operating and neither condition presents any challenge to this robot. Obviously equipped with sophisticated logic, it has never failed to drive itself out of a tight spot within a few seconds of becoming trapped. The two drive motors give it excellent maneuverability and are able to reverse individually or as a pair to turn or backup as needed.Additionally, the two forward looking obstacle detection sensors alter the robot’s path when it approaches the side walls, the love seat, the chlorine floater, and the handrail on the steps, typically avoiding all these so that it rarely gets stuck in the first place. The four horizontal corner wheels ensure that any contact this unit might have with walls or floating objects is both gentle and not prone to getting snagged on something, and the top mounted solar cell is keeping the battery fully charged for all-day operation. If I had any criticism, it’s that the robot is not as good at following along the pool walls as I had hoped to get the leaves and blossoms that tend to stick there. But, when the in-floor jets are running, this debris is always swept away from the walls anyway and the robot always catches it after all. Also, the specifications state that it has a 5000mAh battery, but the enclosed instructions say it is a more likely 2500mAh one. In any case, in sunlight it will run all day long, problem free. Also, if do find it funny that the description states that the cleaner, “can effectively collect various miscellaneous items such as leaves, petals, pebbles, insects, and hair. I can vouch for all but the “pebbles”. In my pool, they sink to the bottom out of reach of this cleaner. But, those small quibbles in no way detract from my 5-star rating. This automatic skimmer is so simple and effective. You set it in the pool, hold the start button for 2-3 seconds and walk away knowing that it will relentlessly crisscross the pool, trapping all manner of surface debris, stay charged from the sun, and leave you with a spotless pool surface.I never find it stopped or stuck, but rather always on the job like a ninja pool Roomba™ doing I far better job, unattended, than I could ever do with a pool pole and net, working in the hot sun.

The fact that you can charge it on cloudy days and solar powered is perfect. The sensors work really well also. It does turn from objects. The only problem Is that when the filter is on for the pool it pushes the skimmer away from a certain area of the pool. But it does eventually get over to that area. I am super pleased with this. Saves me a lot of time skimming it myself.

This is an amazing cleaner. I use this along with my robot pool vacuum and I have no complaints. It's easy to use, good battery, saves so much of my time

I bought this in the summer for my daughter’s pool and I absolutely love it. It gathers leaves and bugs on top of the pool water.
