No.Does a one or two times a year you actually need a drill press warrant the money and space required to have one? No.That is why this is a must have for DIYers and hobbyists. This will do the job on those few occasions you find yourself saying, "Man, I wish I had a drill press."If you're mass producing something that requires precision holes drilled every day, then this isn't for you. Suck it up and by a drill press. For everyone else, this is a well machined quality built, versatile drill guide. Base is perfectly flat. You can adjust the drill angle with ease. There are removable pegs that you can use for centering (listing says up to 4.9" stock, I didn't measure, seems pretty accurate.). There's a centered cradle for drilling pipes or dowels. There's a depth stop for precision drill depth. Feels sturdy.Now I only tried this out on some scrap wood to test it, but I do have a project coming up that will require drilling a lot of centered holes into PVC. If my opinion changes I'll update my review, but I don't think it will. The only negative, which is minor, is that there is nowhere to secure the chuck key. Or at least nowhere I noticed. I'm bound to lose it almost immediately.

This drill guide is awesome. There are many variants of this kind of thing but this one gets almost everything right. First, it is sturdy and locks tightly into whatever angle you set. It also has a thick shank on top for the drill to grab and not some thin 1/4 inch hex shank. There might be some copy to copy variation but my copy had very minimal wobble/vibration on either the drill end or the chuck side, even at higher speeds. The chuck feels solid and when keyed tight won’t slip or loosen.There are some minor things that could be better. For example the springs are very soft and under a smaller 12v drill they sag until the bit almost hits the work surface. Tighter springs might be better. Another nit pick is that the angle numbers are under everything else and can be hard to read/see.Overall this thing is a fantastic value and works well. The red anodizing is more of a pinkish red but it looks fine. It would be hard to find a better variant of this kind of device and if you need something like this you should give this one a try.

Bit fiddly but works great

All metal built and machined to high standard. A bit stiff when out of the box but butter smooth once lubricated the 2 upright rails. The base is strong and with plenty of screw mounts for making your own base scrap plate. The 2 side handles are beefy and will handle a lot of weight (when big drill is fixed etc)The top of the vertical rails are 2 plastic cap which is just fiction fitted, when the spring raise the drill the mount can knock the 2 caps out and get stuck, I managed to tap it back down with a hammer, it would be better if there is a stopper on the top position to stop this from happening. There is only one stopper and it is at the bottom working as a depth selector.

Solche Bohrständer sind extrem praktisch, wenn es um wirklich gerade Löcher geht. Ich habe mit diesem Gerät insgesamt 3 Bohrständer in der Werkstatt. Einer mit Winkelverstellung, und einer ohne Winkelverstellung. Beide auch nicht aus der preiswertesten Kategorie.Der vorliegende Bohrständer aus chinesischer Produktion kommt sehr ordentlich verpackt und mit einer für chinesische Verhältnisse überraschend guten Bedienungsanleitung auf Deutsch: Verständlich geschrieben, und reich bebildert. Zu allem Überfluss auch noch alles gross genug geschrieben, so dass man keine Lupe benötigt. Die Anleitung ist übrigens auschliesslich auf Deutsch. Hier hat sich wohl mal jemand Gedanken um den Zielmarkt gemacht.Dieser Bohrständer ist gross und nicht das leichteste Exemplar seiner Art. Die Einzelteile sind schnell drangeschraubt. Die Winkelverstellung ist sehr kleinteilig möglich, aber in der Tat etwas fummelig. Die Winkelskala finde ich schwer abzulesen. Beim Einstellen muss man schon etwas aufpassen, dass man auf beiden Seiten die identische Einstellung gewählt hat, sonst wird es komisch. Die beiden langen Griffe rechts und links sollen wohl zum fixieren dienen. Wenn man beide nutzt, fehlt einem aber (normalerweise) eine dritte Hand. Fixierung mit nur einem Griff finde ich persönlich nicht besonders zielführend. Ich nutze dann doch lieber den Grundrahmen zum Festhalten.Wo dieser Bohrständer wirklich beeindruckt ist die Spielfreiheit. Sowohl bei der Winkeleinstellung, die Höhenverstellung und bei der Befestigung des Bohrfutters. Da wackelt bei meinem Exemplar exakt: gar nichts!Die Bohrmaschinenführung war bei mir zunächst etwas störrisch. Offenbar kommt sie ungeschmiert bzw. bei weitem nicht aureichend geschmiert beim Kunden an. Teflon-Spray hat es dann gerichtet und die Führungen laufen wirklich butterweich.Eventuell sogar etwas zu gut, denn hier kommen wir zu einem m.E. kleinen Konstruktionsfehler, der grosse Folgen hat, wenn man nicht aufpasst: Die beiden Führungsstangen sind oben lediglich durch zwei Kunststoffkappen abgeschlossen, die ich direkt nach oben weggefeuert habe, als die Federn die "Brücke" mit dem Bohrfutter nach Schmierung fast schon hoch "katapultiert" haben. Die Brücke ist also über diesen Weg auch komplett abnehmbar, was zu bösen Unfällen führen kann, wenn man den Borhständer nur an dieser Brücke bzw. der angeschlossenen Bohrmaschine greift und der ganze Rest sich gemäss den Gesetzen der Schwerkraft nach unten verabschiedet. Diese Endkappen halten einfach gar nichts. Es wäre deutlich besser gewesen, diesen Abschluss z.B. mit einer kleinen etwas grösseren schraubbaren Scheibe oder einem ähnlichen Konstrukt zu sichern.Die Arretierung der maximalen Bohrtiefe funktioniert einfach und gut, was wohl auch der Form der Federn geschuldet ist, die sich sehr exakt und ohne zu verdrehen zusammengedrückt werden können.Der nächste kleinere Kritikpunkt, der ggf. zur Verwirrung führen kann: ich habe mich zunächst gewundert, warum mein Borständer nicht bündig auf der Oberfläche steht, sondern leicht gekippelt hat. Grund sind die beiden bei Nicht-Benutzung auf der Oberseite des Grundrahmens aufgeschraubten Zentrierstifte. Die sind bei meinem Exemplar etwas zu lang so dass sie entsprechend unten herausschauen, wenn man sie voll von oben eindreht. Und dann kippelt es. Etwss unschön, aber wenn man das weiss (und nicht direkt wieder vergisst) kann man damit umgehen.Das Preis ist ambitioniert, aber ich muss sagen, dass meine beiden anderen Bohrständer nicht deutlich günstiger waren, aber verarbeitungsmässig auch in Sachen Spielfreiheit deutlich das Nachsehen haben. Dieser Bohrständer darf auf jeden Fall bleiben, trotz der Dinge die ich bemängelt habe und einen Stern gekostet haben.

I obtained this to replace an old drill guide that had a zero-degree stop that wasn't aligned properly. This one is a big step above that one, however it does have a design flaw that I corrected on my own.The drill guide features a tilting mechanism with a tilting range of +/- 60 degrees in 5 degree detent increments, and includes a scale to make proper angles easier to verify. The depth stop is made from an aluminum shaft collar and should last the life of the drill guide without any risk of slippage. The keyed chuck is nice, however for convenience, I replaced the included chuck with a keyless model so that I wouldn't have to worry about losing the chuck key.The big flaw I see with the design of this drill guide is that the only thing holding the sliding spindle assembly onto the vertical shafts is a pair of vinyl caps on the top ends of the shafts. These caps can easily be pushed off and get lost, which would cause the upper spindle assembly to slide right off the vertical shafts which could also cause the loss or damage to the two springs. I have fixed mine by replacing the vinyl caps with a pair of 10mm set screw shaft collars.Mine was missing one of the centering pegs when I received it, however I don't consider that a big problem because I intended to replace them with shorter versions (such as short M10 or 3/8-16 shoulder bolts) that would work properly with 3/4-inch thick lumber, such as 1x2 and 1x4 boards.

This thing is well made and well designed. It has just about everything you can think of. You can change angle, change drill bit, you can change the depth of where the drill bits stops, etc. One thing that does perplex me is there are these hollow threaded pins that are in the holes where the entire guide pivots. These pins are threaded but they're not helping in place by anything other than friction. In fact, one has actually fallen out when I took it out of the packaging and I hadn't realized it. I thought the one I received was missing parts. When I later realized what the issue was and saw the pins, what they were, and where they went, I realized there was on on my floor I don't understand why they're not in there permanently or at least not done in a manner where they can easily fall out.My only other critique is that the lines and the numbers indicating the angles are actually kind of hard to see. The lines are so close together that I can't tell which one the indicator is actually pointing to.It's a very small critique because this thing is awesome. I wish I had owned this thing along time ago. Drilling straight holes is almost impossible (for me at least) when using a handheld drill bit this jig makes it so much easier. It's very well built and is very sturdy as well.

Der Ständer für leichte Bohrmaschinen oder für Akkuschrauber macht einen erstklassigen Eindruck.Die Verarbeitung ist sehr gut und der Ständer ist auch ziemlich stabil.Wenn es darauf ankommt gerade Ohrlöcher zu bekommen, ist der Ständer der absolute Gamechanger. Das Teil ist nicht so wuchtig, kann also auch problemlos eingepackt und mitgenommen werden und ist trotzdem ziemlich stabil.Seitlich gibt es eine Skala um den gewünschten Winkel einzustellen, kleine Haltebolzen fixieren den Ständer dann im gewünschten Winkel. Die Bolzen können durch drehen und herausziehen fixiert werden, wodurch sich der gewünschte Winkel sehr einfach einstellen lässt. Auch der Federmechanismus lässt sich etwas auf das Gewicht des Schraubers einstellen.Natürlich gibt es auch die Möglichkeit den Ständer auf einem Brett oder einer Werkbank anzuschrauben bzw. zu fixieren.Fazit: Klare Kaufempfehlung und 5 Sterne.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
