Moved to the Midwest and turns out ticks is a huge problem over here. I keep it nearby and use it often, much more frequently then I would have liked!

There are a lot of ticks in Florida. This kit is fantastic. I love that there are two different types of tweezers in addition to the V-shaped tool for trying to snag the tick. I have the best luck with the fine-tipped curved tweezer. I am able to remove the ticks including their heads most of the time.The kit exterior is metal (longer lasting than cardboard). The interior has molded indentations for placing the tools. I use a silicone version of a rubber band to keep the kit shut when not in use.It's helpful to keep the plastic pieces that fit over the tweezers. Without them, the tweezers don't stay in their molded indentations.Two more items are helpful/needed for using the kit.- First is a battery-powered lighted magnifying glass. It really helps to precisely position the fine-tipped curved tweezer so the tick head is consistently removed and the skin isn't pulled.- Second is a water-tight clear container with rubbing alcohol. After removing the ticks, drop it in the alcohol to kill it. A clear container allows you to verify the head was removed and the tick is dead (not crawling up the side for when you reopen the container to add another tick).Be sure to sterilize each tool after you use it. Residue from ticks can make creatures sick.As side notes:- I carry a 4'x6' strong plastic sheet in my pack. When my dog and I take a break, we sit on the sheet. When we get up, I carefully shake the sheet downwind. Once back at the car, I have my dog lie on the sheet so I can remove all/most of the ticks on him, and I dust off my clothing. I definitely want to avoid having a vehicle full of ticks.- The number of ticks on us is drastically reduced by applying Wondercide (cedarwood) to fur/hair, skin, and clothing.

Initially I tried using the Y-shaped tool on my dog and and gently but firmly pulled up and ended up losing the tick head in my dog's neck So the next tick I avouded that tool and used the skinny tweezers and they worked like a charm.

I walk my Yorkie a lot, and there are a huge amount of ticks in my area(MASS).This tool helps me take a tick from my dog easily. The first two items in the picture is well to use, not even have a chance to use the third one.Anyway, good quality and product.
