Product Description

Although ticks occur more frequently from March to the end of October, this highly disliked mite species can actually be active all year round. Therefore, it is highly recommended to prepare yourself just in case - especially if you are traveling a lot or find yourself often in nature.

If there is an unfortunate tick encounter, do not despair.

Our practical tick removal set contains everything you need for a safe extraction.

What you have to consider in regards to ticks, their dangers and removal, as well as protective measures, we have summarized for you in the description below. (All information, suggestions and removal methods also apply to animals)

Lifelong quality

High quality materials and workmanship

All tools are made of high quality stainless steel, which ensures unlimited reuse, and are processed without harmful chemicals. Non-toxic and easy to use in humans (adults and children) and animals.

Carefree hikes, camping or traveling with us

The tick removers are durable, light and come in a practical pocket format so that you can store them in your first aid kit or backpack.

Indispensable for keeping ticks at home under control

The annoying bloodsuckers can often lurk in your own garden and endanger you, your family and pets. To minimize infections, keep a set at home.

Contents:

  • 1 x tick hook with knurled handle (12 cm)
  • 1 x tick tweezers with fine, curved tip (12 cm)
  • 1 x double-sided tick tweezers (10.5 cm)
  • 1 x tick pliers with lifting function (9.5 cm)
  • 1 x compact storage box

asds

Should you find a tick that has buried itself into your skin, you have to keep calm - this certainly does not mean the end for you.

asds

In addition, do not remove the tick using oil, glue, petrol, nail polish remover, alcohol or other “home remedies”. This increases the risk of transmission of pathogens

asds

Put the tick pliers, tweezers or hook close to the skin and grip the head of the tick. Then, with even pressure and without jerky or rotating movements, pull the tick out slowly and in a controlled manner.

asdsa

It is advisable to disinfect the puncture site (as well as the tool used) after removal.

Bites on the body

Generally speaking, tick bites can occur on all parts of the body, but there are places that are affected more often than others.

Focal points on the human body:

  • Armpits and inner side of the upper arms
  • Groin and buttock area
  • Back of the knees

Ticks lurk in the forest or in meadows with tall gras.

It is therefore highly advisable to check the above mentioned parts of the body after long hikes and stays in such locations.

Redness / inflammation

An inflamed tick bite can manifest itself through various symptoms, which are often only visible after a week or so (note the date of the bite). A typical feature is shown in the form of a circular reddening of the skin (resembling a bully’s eye), in the middle of which is the tick bite. This redness on the skin increases each day and does NOT necessarily have to look as shown.

Precautions, prevention and protective measures

Of course, there are also insect and tick repellents in the form of lotion, spray or gel, which promise 100% protection against their bites. The effectiveness of these protective agents (especially with DEET) is not questioned here, nevertheless it is particularly worth mentioning that even with the best repellents and with the most careful protective measures, tick bites can occur.

  • Tick prevention tips:
  • Wear clothes with long sleeves
  • Tuck your pants into the socks
  • Apply tick spray
  • Limit time spent in tall gras

Common tick types in the US

American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis)

  • FOUND widely distributed east of the Rocky Mountains. Occurs in limited areas on the Pacific Coast.
  • TRANSMITS Francisella tularensis (tularemia) and Rickettsia rickettsii (Rocky Mountain spotted fever).
  • Greatest risk of bites during spring and summer.

Blacklegged tick (Ixodes scapularis)

  • FOUND distributed across the eastern United States.
  • TRANSMITS Borrelia burgdorferi and B. mayonii (which cause Lyme disease), Anaplasma phagocytophilum (anaplasmosis), B. miyamotoi disease (a form of relapsing fever), Ehrlichia muris eauclairensis (ehrlichiosis), Babesia microti (babesiosis), and Powasan virus (Powasan virus disease).
  • Greatest risk of bites in the spring, summer, and fall in the Northeast, Upper Midwest and mid-Atlantic.

Brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus)

  • FOUND Worldwide.
  • TRANSMITS Rickettsia rickettsii (Rocky Mountain spotted fever). Primary vector for R. rickettsii transmission in the southwestern United States and along the U.S.-Mexico border.
  • Dogs are the primary host for the brown dog tick in each of its life stages, but the tick may also bite humans.

Gulf Coast tick (Amblyomma maculatum)

  • FOUND Southeastern and mid-Atlantic states and southern Arizona.
  • TRANSMITS R. parkeri (R. parkeri rickettsiosis), a form of spotted fever.
  • Larvae and nymphs feed on birds and small rodents, while adult ticks feed on deer and other wildlife. Adult ticks have been asociated with transmission of R. parkeri to humans.

Lone star tick (Amblyomma americanum)

  • FOUND Widely distributed in the eastern United States, but more common in the South.
  • TRANSMITS Ehrlichia chaffeensis and E. ewingii (which cause human ehrlichiosis), Francisella tularensis (tularemia), Heartland virus (Heartland virus disease), Bourbon virus (Bourbon virus disease), and Southern tick-asociated rash illness (STARI).
  • The greatest risk of being bitten exists in early spring through late fall. A very aggressive tick that bites humans. Allergic reactions asociated with consumption of red meat have been reported among persons bitten by lone star ticks.

Rocky Mountain wood tick (Dermacentor andersoni)

  • FOUND Rocky Mountain states.
  • TRANSMITS Rickettsia rickettsii (Rocky Mountain spotted fever), Colorado tick fever virus (Colorado tick fever), and Francisella tularensis (tularemia).
  • Adult ticks feed primarily on large mammals. Adult ticks are primarily asociated with pathogen transmission to humans.

Western blacklegged tick (Ixodes pacificus)

  • FOUND In the Pacific Coast states.
  • TRANSMITS Anaplasma phagocytophilum (anaplasmosis), B. burgdorferi (Lyme disease), and very likely B. miyamotoi (Borrelia miyamotoi disease, a form of relapsing fever).
  • Larvae and nymphs often feed on lizards, birds, and rodents, and adults more commonly feed on deer. Although all life stages bite humans, nymphs and adult females are more often reported on humans.

Bought these for a scout backpacking trip. They are not only great for quick removal of ticks but also for splinters!

The tweezers were meant for quick and easy tick removal so that the tick does not remain in the victim and regurgitate the contents of its stomach into the person being bitten. The tweezers in this kit were practically useless when my husband got bitten by a tick and I needed to remove it from his hip. I would not purchase this item again.

This tick remover works great! My dog loves to run in tall grass/bushes when we take her hiking, so she always gets ticks in the spring months. Prior to this purchase, I was using tweezers to remove the ticks, but the tick heads would break off and stay embedded deep in my dog's skin, which was upsetting. I haven't had the need to use the tweezers in this kit, but I have used the tick remover tool 5 times so far! Each time, the tick remover pulled out the ENTIRE tick, head and all! Removing ticks is now quick and easy, and now I don't need to worry about "tick juice" being squeezed back into my dog as I did when using tweezers. I also no longer need to worry about embedded tick heads.

It worked just as you predicted. Keep a pin close by when using it, because the small deer ticks don't want to crawl or be tapped out of the V after being removed. They are so tiny and hard to see against the green color (white would be better), so use the pin to scrape them onto a white paper to be able to see to kill them. Nice Christmas stocking gift for the woodsman, rancher, hiker, hunter, or camper, and it's small enough to fit into your pocket.

Great tick remover at a great price. I hate ticks and their harm to animals. Good case.
