Threading is a breeze due to color-coded thread guides and an easy lower looper threading system. The MyLock 634D also lets you quickly switch to rolled hemming without changing the needle plate.

I bought an earlier edition of this machine. In 1992, as a matter of fact (not from Amazon), to make baby things for my first grandchild. Used it for many household things, and apparel. Tune-up ONCE only, just to be sure everything was tip-top. The only negatives were due to my own errors in adjustments, threading, etc. sold it just last year, thinking I wouldn't use it much more, as we were moving to a retirement facility. I was SO WRONG. I just purchased the 7933, thinking it would last as long as I could see to do fewer projects. It LOOKED similar, but that's all. I miss the thread/trim catcher in front, I hate cleaning up the mess! The simpler rolled hem adjustment would be great, although I had no trouble with the old one. Maybe now my hands wouldn't like pulling out the knob to retract the blade. Maybe you still have to do that part. This one is probably lighter, perhaps not.I would highly recommend this machine. Not sure whether I will keep the 7933, and the replacement won't be this due to the cost, but I plan on another Janome! (This review is per: my wife Diane, our official seamstress.)

I love this machine. In fact i have 3 of them so i dont have to keep changing thread. It is tricky but sews great. It does take patients to work but worth having your garments come out looking great.

I thought Janine was too of the line, but this machine has proven otherwise. I hate this thing! It is loud and bounces every sewing table I have! It is so temperamental that I have spent hours at a time trying to get it to sew! What a joke! Yo think that I spent that much money on a hunk of junk makes me sick to my stomach!
