The ergonomically advanced design of the Instinct sculling paddles helps teach swimmers the correct palm positive hand position while sculling. The Instinct sculling paddles' convex design promotes an early catch and an early vertical forearm position in the sculling motion. The Instinct sculling paddles are a versatile tool for all four swim strokes and are available in two sizes: Medium & Large.

I waited a long time for them to arrive. They can rub on the thumb. I am glad they came. I use them 3 times a week.

I do a lot of triathlons, olympic, international and sprints and I bought these thinking that they would help me to improve my swimming, which is not bad, around 2:00 min/100 yd, but I am sure that can be improved. During my training, I usually swim 3500 yards and I always have my Garmin Forerunner 910XT to monitor my laps. I have used these paddles about 5 times and I have not noticed any improvements at all. At the end of these training sessions my thumbs were a bit sore, because the plastic in the paddles keep rubbing against them, only noticeable after you swim for a while. They might help beginners, but for me they made no difference, they neither increase/decreased my time nor made me work harder. I had no problem keeping them on my hands. One good thing is, they are easy to wash.

These are my favorite paddles for technique building. They do not give me speed advantage, and my arms do not feel the endurance workout with these paddles comparing to the others I have tried. However, these paddles provide an instance feedback of a bad technique - bad water entry by slapping the arm, unfinished stroke. I have given these out to fellow swimmers - advanced or beginners.

Best investment I've made for one of the training tools I use to help improve my stroke. At first it felt strange, being strapless, but as I began to hone in on my hand entry into the water things began to make sense, and little by little my stroke began to improve tremendously. I use this in conjunction with my newly purchased Z2 Gold Finis, size G if you are a men's size 12.5-13 like me (ain't this a b#!/$, I'm not even getting paid for this, smh) anyway in my opinion this is a must, I go hard or go home in my workouts I don't know about you.

In evaluating my review, please take note that I took up swimming as an adult (no prior swimming experience) after retiring. I've taken some lessons, but I'm mostly self-taught and in year two of my swimming progression.Other than swim fins and swim snorkels, I don't use any other swim aids other than the FINIS Sculling Finger Paddles. I've tried other swim paddles, but the FINIS Sculling Finger Paddles is the only one that I'm comfortable using.I use the FINIS Sculling Finger Paddles mostly for sculling drills and treading water. I found it especially helpful learning to master the eggbeater kick for treading water since my legs would get tired so the sculling kept me from sinking. The features that I like about the FINIS Sculling Finger Paddles are the following:1. The smaller size is easier on my elbows and shoulders (I have a history of tennis/golfer elbow pain).2. The smaller size makes it possible to grab the pool edge or pool lane divider with your hands without having to remove the paddle.3. The surgical tubing straps are comfortable and easy to adjust. If they break, they're easy and cheap to replace and readily available at my local hardware store.4. They float.5. When swimming freestyle, when my arm is extended, the smaller size of the paddles allow me to point my fingers downwards toward the bottom of the pool.6. In freestyle, the paddle will flutter if your hand doesn't enter the water at the correct angle. This is good immediate feedback since my hands tend to enter at too steep of an angle.I have used the FINIS Sculling Finger Paddles to swim freestyle (front crawl), backstroke, and breaststroke. Of the three competition strokes, I use the FINIS Sculling Finger Paddles mostly for freestyle and sometimes for breaststroke.
