Application
This heating Element is great for use heating water in domestic hot water cylinders or water tanks in caravans, boats, workshops etc. Can also be used with waste vegetable oil in the the manufacture of biodiesel, and for home brewing etc.
The DERNORD 120v 1650w Foldback Water Heater Element has a compact, energy efficient design that is well suited for many applications. I used this as a replacement part for my old hot tub which no longer is supported with replacement parts. I adapted it to fit the heater chamber with a home made clamping plate. So far it has been working very well for many months. I expect it will last a long time. Since there are two heaters used I will probably replace the other original part when it fails with another one of these .

Boils water in my 8 gallon milk can. Though it only draws ~1475 watts from my 120vac 15 amp circuit. Don’t know if it’s design that way or it is faulty unit

Heats 8 gallons at a rate of approximately 1.0 degree F/minute. It would be nice if it heated a little quicker but at least I don’t have to rewire my garage for 220V. Can’t beat the price and convenience of 120V. I had to bend one of the heating elements in order for it to clear the inner HERMS coil on my HLT brew kettle. I tested it the other day and it works as expected. I was able to maintain a temperature of 153F in the HLT using an Inkbird IPB-16S PID controller. The 2 in tri clamp fitting is great as well.

Easy to wire up. Sacrificed an extension cord for it. Heated about 7 gallons of water in about an hour and a half to 200 degrees all by its self. Very happy with it. Looking forward to pairing it up with a temp controller soon. Ran it for about 8 hours with no problem

Haven't used the item yet, but seems solidly built with a protective cap for wires which is missing in a lot of heating elements which makes things a lot safer when working near wet environments.Plus the customer service from Dernord on this and their other products is top notch!
