Looking for a natural food coloring alternative for bake goods and icing. Found Decopac Premium Natural Purple Gel Color. An expensive product with limited colors available. Decided to try the purple color gel for a special African Violet Bundt cake, since the other needed colors were available in another natural brand. Received the purple color gel in February 2024 and it out dates on June 12, 2024. It is a two ounce, multi-use bottle that requires refrigeration after opening and to be used at room temperature after being refrigerated. Not happy with the short dating limiting usability of the product and the cost.

I bought four different colors to avoid using artificial dyes in my macarons. They simply do not work to color the batter. The pigment is far too weak, and using enough to see a color difference destabilizes the shells and browns terribly while baking. Every color may as well be a shade of brown. I wasn't expecting much from natural food coloring, but they're not cheap. And I would have appreciated receiving a product that wasn't on the verge of expiring. I ordered these at the end of September, and the expiration dates were: Orange 10/1/23, Green 11/4/23, Brown 12/9/23, and Purple 1/19/24. Would not repurchase or recommend.

I used about a tablespoon of color in a small piece of fondant… And it’s still very light purple. Consistency is very liquidy almost water, thin.
