Using them at this very moment, they smell like citronella and they are so far keeping the bugs away! I always love a citronella candle while I'm sitting outside in the summer evening

I have mixed feelings about these candles. When I first lit them I noticed that the smell was very strong compared to others I have used. I could not sit very close or it actually burned the back of my throat. It was a little overpowering. I also noticed that it took about an hour of them being lit before it started keeping the mosquitoes away. On a positive note, the quality was great, they burned for many hours more than some other candles I have tried. All in all a good value for the money and of course with prime, I didn't have to wait more than a day to get to me!!
