My 2 year old asked for a trumpet for Christmas, and I almost fell out of my chair. A WHAT?! I didn't even know he knew what a trumpet was. So thankfully Amazon came through. He loves it! It's been 3 months and he still plays with it several times a week, marching around the house tooting on his trumpet pretending to be in a marching band. It has had a lot of beating so far, and does have a small crack, but it has been thrown, beaten against the floor, and used in tug-of-war between a 1 and 2 year old fighting over it. It looks real, makes music, and the tunes change as you hold down the different keys. For the price, I am beyond pleased and my 2 year old loves it, which is what is most important.

My 3 year old requested several instruments this Christmas and a trumpet was first on the list. When I was searching for a toy one on Amazon, the other reviews for this trumpet were very helpful. He was so excited to have a trumpet and the best thing about this trumpet is the color coordinated buttons to help teach little songs. Even my 2 year old was able to pick this up and started making sounds with it. We also purchased the saxophone and violin. Great toy, arrived fast and seems pretty sturdy.

My 3 year old has loved this trumpet for 4 months now. It is great for pretend play, but since the silver color has already worn off, I'll be shocked if it survives to his next birthday.Pros:- large size (like a real trumpet)- sounds are relatively quiet and melodious (nice for parents)- hasn't shattered when tossed on the floorCons:- silver color rubs off easily, revealing black plastic beneath- child must press the keys while blowing into horn to make any sound at all- has 4 keys, not 3 like a real trumpetMy child usually holds it up to his mouth and hums into it - but thats because he wants to play Aaron Copland, and even if this trumpet was easy to operate, it wouldn't allow him to do that! Overall, this toy is a good idea that should be better executed.

After seeing a snippet of trumpets being made on "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood", my 3.5 year old said he wanted a trumpet for Christmas. Every time we asked him what he was going to ask Santa to bring him for Christmas, he said "a trumpet". After the third or fourth time he said this, we began to research what trumpets Santa might bring him and found this one. All the other reviews were pretty accurate so I'll just add my .02 dollars:*LOVE the design and construction. It's a really well-designed toy, with nice touches in the detailing. It also feels pretty sturdy and can take a little banging but I'd stop short of saying it's "hardy". The buttons don't feel too substantial. Not cheap, but definitely not a 2-year old toy.*LOVE that it's made in Italy! Just because...that's cool. And I don't like supporting cheap Chinese products (not blaming the Chinese for doing what they're asked, just don't like supporting the Culture of Cheap.)*LIKE the sound and ease of use. My son pulled it out and figured out to make sounds without any instruction pretty quick (needed some tips on the lip placement later but he got that quickly). But it doesn't sound like a trumpet, more like a high-class squeak. Good tones, just not trumpet-y.*DON'T LIKE that there's nothing provided to learn how to play songs. To be fair, I haven't looked online but not having ANYTHING to show him (barring a little bugle call) was kind of a bummer.Overall, I REALLY LIKE this toy and would buy it again! It's a great starter musical instrument and a valued addition to our toy collection.
