Purchased for a bit of a non-traditional use. That is, tying my light airplane down when i overnight or go to lunch after landing on frozen lakes here in Wisconsin. I just took a chance on this product, and although they are a bit expensive, they work great. Easy to turn into the ice, extremely secure, and the hole is large enough to fit some tie down rope through. After reading reviews of other ice screws, I sprang for the extra bucks for these and am very happy.

This company is very good to work with. The product is the standard by which ice climbers judge their saftey. Other products will have to prove themselves. If they don't--damn that hurt.

Quick and easy to screw into the ice. Works great for snowkiting self launching/landing on frozen lakes. It's nice not having to worry about the kite getting blown away.-set up kite and lines (make sure kite is well anchored before leaving it unattended).-screw in ice screw.-hook ice screw to chicken loop (I use about 4ish feet of climbing rope with a carabiner on each end).-set kite on edge of wind window on its side.-walk back to chicken loop and strap in snowboard or skis.-hook chicken loop to harness.-disconnect carabiner from chicken loop.-go snowkiting.
