This unit works across the variety of systems that I tested. This includes Windows, Mac, Linux and SteamOS (I tried it on a SteamDeck OLED)! The Realtek driver that shipped with Windows 11 24H2 appears to have optimizations missing that let you achieve the advertised line rates. Thankfully, updating the driver using Windows Update (it shows up under "Optional Updates") clears this up!In all, I couldn't be any happier!I hope this review helps you make an informed purchasing decision!

Connected this between my laptop and NAS, which only has a 2.5G port, and it immediately worked with no need for a driver download. Tested the transfer speed and it topped out at ~2.4Gbps speeds, around ~260-280MB/s after TCP overhead eats up its share. The attached USB-C-to-A adapter is a nice touch, especially where my laptop only has 1 USB-C port that is already occupied by a dock.

My MacBook Pro 16 M3 Max rarely leaves the house, spending almost all of its time tethered to a CalDigit TS4 dock which provides connectivity to various drives and other devices, as well as taking care of my ethernet connection. However, I do like to keep a standalone ethernet dongle on hand for those times when I do need to travel, or if I need to bring the laptop over to the networking closet to do some troubleshooting. I misplaced my previous adapter, so I ordered this one to replace it.This adapter worked perfectly, no drivers needed... I plugged it into the MBP, plugged in the ethernet cable, and it worked. Can't ask for more than that! I don't have a 2.5G or 5G network, just regular gigabit, but I do get the expected speed (around 940mbps with an iPerf test to another hardwired computer). I appreciate that, unlike my previous adapter which had a USB-A connector (and required an adapter), this one is USB-C, so it plugs right into the MacBook Pro (though it does include a USB-A adapter for older machines).

Works really well! The inclusion of a USB A to C adapter is genius for a product like this and increased the usefulness significantly!Make sure you use this in a USB 3.0 or higher port to take full advantage of the speed if your network itself supports faster data rates than USB 2.0 allows!

It works on my network, and Windows says it's operating at 5Gbps. It's a Realtek chip. The USB connects securely. It gets warm, but not hot. This adapter does not get as hot as the 2.5Gbps adapter that it replaced. This one must have very good cooling.I'm using this with a micro tower PC that is impossible to upgrade with internal components, and it's been stable and reliable. Very solid connection and performance.I'm happy with this item, and have been looking and waiting for a device with these capabilities for some time.

The adapter is competitively priced. I appreciate the included usb A adapter. Really this thing can be made to work with most devices. Window, Mac, & Linux compatible. I have a few adapters like this from other manufacturers, this on seems to be a bit more sturdy. The metal on the housing is thicker & it's vented. The way the cable is mounted to the unit is better than most as well.

My previous USB-A to ethernet adapter mysteriously stopped working, plus all my new laptops only have USB-C. This one seemed the best possible solution; it works with my existing setup and with my new laptops when I need to debug my access points. This worked as soon as I plugged it in. The traffic LEDs are a nice touch. No complaints.
