Note that this listing says the container is for pellets and a pee pad. I am not using that way, I am using only the bottom portion without the sifter, since I use sand instead of pellets. But even still, this is a great little sand box for cats, due to the stainless factor.For years I have been using a plastic storage bin, which is close in length and width to this one, but just a bit deeper. The problem with the plastic is that it's more difficult to clean than the stainless. Also that is just a single container so you really have to scrape it out each day to keep the residue from sticking inside. Also being taller was nice, I had another cat that has since passed away, but she used to throw her sand everyplace, until I starting using that bin, which contained the particles better for her. My current cat doesn't do that, and while this one is not as tall, it is not at all shallow either, and will still contain the particles of sand as the cat digs and buries.This container also has to be scooped when you don't use the sifter (I prefer daily at least). It does come as a container-within-a-container, like a sieve that helps certain bits fall through if you use the wood pellets, which I do not. The difference is that stuff doesn't stick to it like glue. My cat liked it right away, which if you know cats, isn't always the case.This is a bit pricey but stainless can be that way. It's not a fancy enclosure like other pricey ones, which I do like, but it's basic and the perfect container, it is quite large and holds a lot of sand easily. I typically purchase the 40lb bag of sand and use about 2/3 of it, leaving the last 1/3 to top it off as the sand starts to disappear.I would recommend this for lots of reasons: size, design, depth, and material (stainless steel). It comes with a nice scooper. This could accommodate multiple cats easily, it is so large. Well worth the price listed. I cannot speak to the pellet use, perhaps someone else can, I don't want to mess with pee pads, a litter box itself is already enough.

It is a descent size stainless steel sifting litter box adequate for a big cat. I would think that most other types of litter would fall through and pine pellets so much better with this sifting litter box. Plus, the scoop is a better design for pellets as well and makes the whole process quicker. Super buy!
