I am really impressed with these steel rods.I went for the 200mm x 2mm pack of rods which came in a pack of 20.Just to outline my perspective, I used these parts for making models and 3d printing devices. In use, I had some larger resin 3D printed models that needed elements of reinforcement, especially when it came to attaching the models to their base. These steel rods worked brilliantly in that role for me. The 2mm diameter was easy to accommodate inside the model with carefully drilled holes, and provided secure and strong support for the model once glued in place. The same thing applied with using them in 3D prints for things like hinge pins. I also found myself using the rods as paint handles for priming larger 3D printed miniatures, where the small size of the rods allowed easy access to the models with an airbrush for priming and base coating.Overall, I would highly recommend these as part of any model makers toolkit.

The rods arrived nicely packaged with several layers of protection consisting of a mailing pouch, a stiff cardboard tube with taped ends and a couple wraps of clear plastic and some foam keeping the rods from knocking around inside. All of which did an excellent job of keeping them safe during shipping as they arrived in perfect condition. The quality of the cuts on the ends of the rods isn’t particularly impressive as they’re all skewed in various angles and haven’t been cleaned up after the cut was done, leaving some burrs. So if you’re specifically wanting to use them at full length you may need to do some clean-up on the ends.Otherwise, the rods are good quality with a nice surface finish and all twenty of the provided rods are very straight. With a quick check with some digital callipers I also verified that the rods are all within 0.02mm of the expected 2mm diameter, and they’re all between 400mm to 401mm in length, so they’re as described in size.I don’t have an absolutely foolproof method of testing if they are made from 304 stainless steel, but all signs are pointing that being the case as it’s had no issues with a long soak in salty water and vinegar without any degradation or cosmetic changes. They’re also slightly magnetic, but that’s very common and expected for austenitic steels, which will form some martensite when cold-worked. That presence of martensite gives it a slight pull in the presence of a permanent magnet, but nothing that feels abnormal compared to other 304 and 316 stainless steel rods I've bought from various brands. As always with the M METERXITY product listings of various types and materials they’re relatively well priced for pre-cut lengths compared to some brands. The specific size I ordered (2mm by 400mm) isn’t available on this listing any more, but if they came back in stock and were priced competitively I’d have no problems recommending the rods.

Good stainless rods that are the dimensions they are supposed to beNice bundle of stainless rods. I checked with my calipers (which you can see in the attached pictures) that these are the size (more or less) that they're supposed to be. Bought these to use as axles in some RC car stuff and for making some equipment. Great listing if you're looking for some raw materials!
