Look just as pictured, I am happy to say. They call these unpolished, but I found the finish very smooth. Here on the farm, we are always needing various pins and connectors; now I can cut my own without spending half my day driving into town when equipment breaks down or pins are lost. This is heavy, solid stainless steel; nothing better for use in farm and food handling equipment.

These rods are about as straight as can be they roll smoothly on our flat granite kitchen counter. They are a fraction over 36" in length and closer to 10mm than 3/8", which again is close enough. They are listed as "mill finish" and are nicely smooth, not buffed to mirror shine, but smooth and will polish up easily if that's needed. I'm using these for stock for the metal lathe so will surface polish parts later as needed. Note the ends are "chopped" close to 90 degrees but there is a slight amount of deformation on some ends due to the pressure when shearing - takes nothing away from usefulness. Good value!
