Improves thread quality and chip evacuation. Allows tapping of many metals including stainless steel and steels. Eliminates "bird nests" around tap shank. High-speed steel tools are good for most general purpose applications, offering a combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance. Titanium carbonitride coatings are harder and more wear-resistant than TiN for improved tool life and faster cutting speeds. Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging. 0.433-inches thread length. Applications: Good for 71/ and 625 inco/waspaloy/hastelloy/invar/monel/incoloy, 718 inconel/A286, titanium. Taped 2 holes like I normally do and it already broke I strongly recommend not using this tap not worth the money

I have not used it on steel as I got it for threading bolts in Phenolic panels.

The picture clearly shows a reduced shank but the ones they ship out is the fat shank which defeats its purpose.
