It is a genuine rechargeable battery pack, compatible with any Xbox 360 plug and play kit or charger. The charge lasts a few hours and since I originally purchased this in 2010, it continues to work well and hold a charge (as of July 2014).Keep in mind, when I originally purchased this, it was the cheapest option of the available colors. Since then, the white and black versions have lowered in price and are the cheaper choice and are of the same quality. I would recommend looking into those options first if color is not a primary concern with your purchase.

When dealing with batteries, especially for older gaming consoles, typically these things have been sitting on a shelf somewhere for months or even YEARS with the chemicals inside dying little by little every day. So once you receive them, they're not even half as good as when they were first manufactured. I got lucky with these and got some decent ones that lasted for about 6.5-8 hours before needing to be recharged. Combined with me always having a battery on the burner (charger), I can keep going forever, only stopping for a minute to switch it out for a fresh one. However if you don't use these things for awhile, especially the ones that aren't the official Microsoft black or white, you'll come back to a completely dead battery that won't charge no matter how many times you try. I stopped playing games for about a month only to comeback to 2/5 batteries unusable. Before this I've had some that died after 1-2 weeks of non use. Luckily the black ones survived and are still going strong to this day. Leaving them on a charger is also a bad idea because that lowers the battery life even faster because of the constant chemical reaction going on. As always, if you're going to use rechargeable batteries get a reputable, cheap brand, that you can easily afford to buy more of when they eventually die.

Interesting how much less you can pay for a battery if you aren't picky about the color. The pink was even cheaper, but son was willing to pay more for the blue. The ratings are "3" because it is a battery, not a game.

For some reason I didn't read the reviews before purchasing this item, I will never make that mistake again. These are new old stock and because they are so old they no longer work. I plugged mine in for 8 hours immediately after receiving it and left it untouched that entire time. As soon as I removed the Play and Charge cable the controller went completely dead. This battery won't even hold a 1 second charge. Complete waste of money.

I purchased this battery pack after my first rechargeable battery lost its power completely. This (and the previous XBOX battery) lasted only a few months. Also the Plug-n-Charge kit wire does not work properly either. The battery, when it decides to charge, can hold a lot of gaming time on one charge. Save time and money...buy some Energizer or some other brand recharchable batteries, that way you could even use those on other household items e.g. flashlights, remote controls. Not a good investment.

After reading some of the recent reviews I was a little worried, but because I had already purchased a blue battery pack that worked fine a year ago I decided to give it another shot. The problem that I think people are having is that they don't know how to charge it properly. The battery, after not having charge for so long, needs to be put on and taken off the charger multiple time for the initial charge. The first time you put it on the light will turn green very soon if not immediately. You then have disconnect and reconnect the battery, and you continue to do this until the light stays red. Once it stays red then it's charging the battery. I was very happy that the new battery worked just as well as the one I bought a year ago with a little charge tweaking (I have charged it once and used the battery for ~10 hours thus far and it still has 3/4 on the battery indicator).11-27-11 This review is probably no longer valid seeing as the batteries they're selling have now been sitting in the package for another year without being used/charged. As someone commented, this may not be a worthwhile product to buy anymore.

Bought 2 of these to replace the original NiMH's that came with my Play and Charge (white) that had outlived their useful lives. Got the blue ones because Amazon had them cheaper than the white ones. . . now I know why.Neither one of these blue ones charges properly on the Play and Charge kit; although they do charge they also get EXTREMELY hot, which puts them into a death spiral that convinces the 360 that they're never fully charged. Really disappointed in them since they're supposed to be OEM batteries.

Bought this as a replacement for my original white battery pack - works great, looks pretty cool as well and a great price
