About this item

  • THE DIFFERENCE - The 12-inch stainless steel precision square is made out of a 1/16" thick stainless steel core. This allows our CNC milling and optical inspection systems to ensure precision, accurately square with .0085°.
  • BUILT IN SHOULDER LIP - We join two precision milled aluminum cheeks to the base leg of the square to form the beam. The cheeks are narrower, creating a lip that your square can sits on at the end of your workpiece.
  • SCRIBING NOTCHES - The built in scribe notches combined with the shoulder lip make scribing a breeze. The laser engraved markings contrasts nicely with the non-glare surfaces and won't rub off.
  • MORE FEATURES - Notch in blade allows pencil to go all the way to the edge. Wide base formed by cheeks allow square to stand on its own. End-of-beam Vertical scale to simplify machine set up.
  • MADE IN USA - Like all Woodpeckers products, the Stainless Steel Precision Woodworking Squares are precisely machined in our Strongville, Ohio factory, just outside of Cleveland.

Product Description

stainless steel woodworking squares in 6inch and 12inch

Elevate your woodworking precision to unmatched levels with the Woodpeckers Stainless Steel Woodworking Square. Unlike traditional squares relying on pins, rivets, or spot-welds, ours boasts a one-piece core crafted with cutting-edge CNC milling technology. This innovative approach ensures unparalleled accuracy, with the core machined square by computer and verified with a precision optical inspection system capable of measuring angularity to 5 decimal places.

Crafted with durability in mind, the 1/16" thick blade undergoes rigorous heat treatment and tempering, promising strength and stability for years to come. The non-glare finish, achieved through bead blasting, complements the laser-engraved scales, offering clear and contrasted markings for enhanced visibility and accuracy.

Designed for ease of use, the Woodpeckers Stainless Steel Woodworking Square features laser-engraved scales with a tolerance of ±.004", minimizing parallax error and ensuring precise measurements. The thin blade places the scale adjacent to your workpiece, while precisely-spaced scribing notches allow for effortless marking with a pencil, producing lines perfectly parallel to the edge.

Additionally, laser-engraved markings on the beam and edges facilitate machinery setup, while the square's unique design allows it to stand upright without assistance, freeing up both hands for precise adjustments.

Backed by Woodpeckers' commitment to quality, the Stainless Steel Woodworking Square is promised to be within ±.0085° for the life of the tool. Should you ever encounter deviation beyond this tolerance, rest assured knowing we'll promptly repair or replace it, ensuring your continued satisfaction and confidence in our product.

Experience the pinnacle of woodworking precision and reliability with the Woodpeckers Stainless Steel Woodworking Square, the ultimate tool for layout work, material and assembly checking, and machinery setup.

This is my first Woodpeckers tool. I broke down and ordered it because I felt like every square I owned was slightly out of square. For a lot of things it wouldn't matter, but for anything requiring precision it was intensely frustrating. To clarify, this is for the 1282, or 12" steel version.Honestly, I love this thing. It's not going to replace high end machinist squares, but for woodworking it's effectively a perfect 90. The overhang block slides easily along wooden edges which means it's easy to make use of the scribe slots. The general build quality is excellent, and I love the etched measurement gradations. Overall it's been a pleasure to work with. The hanger is some kind of magnetic metal; I threw a couple of rare earth bar magnets on the back and stuck it to one of my steel pegboards. Works like a charm.

Arrived great - love the product. But I think there are now other manufacturers that are 99% as good for less than half the price.

Much too expensive, but a good product. Smart design. Thinner and easier to use for marking compared to Woodpecker's overly thick all aluminum models.

Great tool for all your squaring needs and desires. Mine came perfectly straight and contrary to another review these are not knock offs and the even model numbers are current model numbers of the stainless steel models, the odd numbers are the aluminum versions. These may seem pricey but you definitely get what you pay for

I expected nothing less than the best and I wasn’t disappointed. A bit pricey but great American craftsmanship doesn’t come cheap.

My 12” squares was warped and unusable.Bummed bought for accuracy and never seen a square so warped. The steel seems thin, but probably would not have said that if it had been straight. Makes you wonder how well it would hold up over time if it’s bannna bent out of the box.Probably a rare defect, but not impressed. Also the red aluminum seems pretty but seems it would not age well as it is so easily scratched. Merica
