I bought Noico black and silver sound deadening mat and this review is the same for either colour. The accompanying instructions are useful regarding the preparation for and the application of the mats. While I appreciate the health and safety instructions cover a range of people they are of the Doom and Gloom category with dire warnings. The advice of using gloves is a hinderance, it’s is easier to detach fingers from the adhesive than gloves. The adhesive side of the mat is like a super sticky Blu Tack and is easily removed and as for the aluminium being dangerous resulting in cuts I don’t know how you could end up cutting yourself. You do need to invest in a good quality roller, a 30mm is a good size to get into most places and a well rounded and smooth piece of wood/plastic is useful to roll out the inaccessible areas. The mats are excellent quality and just from the weight alone they should do a great job. They are easy to install and rolling them out is harder. Be careful when sticking them, make sure they are positioned correctly before pressing hard on them as once they stick that’s it. I have used them on a 40 year old car which had rudimentary insulation/sound deadening installed when made so I’m sure they will do what they claim - as other reviews claim.

This was my first time installing sound deadening material, so this review is by a beginner after his first install. Rated 5 stars because, after reading description, reviews, and comparing to higher $$$ material, I knew what to expect and it met expectations. Great bang for your buck. 36sq ft was more than enough to do the floor board on my regular cab Tacoma, with enough (I estimate) to do my doors and/or perhaps even my roof. Even after a few mistake cuts, I have plenty left over.Very easy to work with. Couldn’t say how other competitors are. The foil was thin enough to do most of the fine trims with a decent pair of scissors. I would recommend wearing gloves, just in case. Also, because of the thin foil, be careful using the rollers, if you press too hard or hit a bad angle, you can break the foil.Very easy to shape the material to the contours on car. I purchased some grid/graphing poster board to make templates of some of the more intricate pieces I needed. The graphing grid really helps. It was much easier to work with than cardboard. After trimming to size, I pressed the pieces into place with the paper backing still on to test fit and pre-form the contours. At first, the adhesive is very forgiving. If you make a mistake and need additional trimming or repositioning, it can be pull up and removed pretty easily and won’t leave a mess. However, after pressing with the roller, it takes a good amount of effort and clean up to remove. So, be sure that you order a set of rollers with the material. I have yet to try on vertical or inverted surfaces, like inside door panels or on roof panel behind the headliner, but if you follow cleaning instructions, and roll appropriately, I’m sure it will be fine once rolled/pressed.All in all, I’m satisfied. Great value and after getting my interior back together and driving a few days, my interior is very quiet. Exhaust drone and road noise dramatically reduced. Stereo sounds much better as well. And, this is only after doing the floor. I can’t wait to do more surfaces.

Tried out noico the first time around on my lightning and it was easy to work with and adhered very well. It made a big difference reducing road noise after using it to cover floor of trucks and back wall. My truck is loud so exhaust/motor noise wasn't gone, exhaust noise was muffled a bit but when I let off throttle is when I really noticed road noise was super minimal almost gone. As far as thermal insulation went it did a kind of okay job and helped disputce some heat a little from the floor but the floor still got hot after carpet installed, however I did notice A/C in cab lasted a bit longer than it did before. 1 box was enough for 85% coverage on floor and wall. It was a bit hotter that week and I unique smell for about a day or two and then it went away after that. A month later I ordered another box to cover door panels and roof, got almost 100% roof covered and door panels and had enough left over to fill in some spaces near firewall to help with noise. In addition I also ordered the noico Red thermal insulation I believe 36sqft and put that on top of every sound deadmer I had and it was enough to cover entire roof and floor some fire wall and some door. Thermal insulater worked great! Heat from floor was gone. Noico red was easy to work with but once you stick it down if you make a mistake the adhesive will just stay and the foam will rip off sometimes youll get lucky and it won't catch right away. Using A/C now I no longer had to keep it on 4 to stay comfortable in cab now I catch myself turnibg it to 1 because I'm too cold and the coolness last in the cab so much longer than ever before. Back on the road the cab was so quiet j would hear a muffled roar from motor and exhaust when accelerating but past that the cab was quiet as hell. During this I also installed a nice sound system with a little 10" sub which was all my little truck needed. I'm more of a quality over quantity type so I don't really bump my music too loud however when testing it turnung everything up the sound was really clean outside the truck with window down I could hear some music but it just sounded like someone was playing a normal stereo that you could just hear as you walked by their car however once you stick your head through the window the sub was slamming and speakers blaring. It impressed me that sound outside of the cab was minimal because that meant driving through a parking garage or lot I could continue to listen to my music without anyone hearing what I'm listening to or that I have a sound system. Overall this noico really impressed me and I can honestly say I'm 100% pleased with their results and effectiveness.

So I ordered the black foil in the 36 sqft and the regular foil in the 18 sqft package because I thought that 72 was just going to be overkill. Well I haven't got it installed yet but I can tell you I probably should have ordered the regular foil for all of it. Package on the black says 78mils. And the package on the regular says 80mils. You wouldn't think that 2mils would be that much difference but the black seems to be about half as thick as the regular foil. I am sure it will still work and I will update again once installed to let you know if I had to double it up on the black foil. And just to reiterate as others I do not think this will have any smell issues. I tore a small piece off and had to hold it basically to my nostrils and it smelled like the butyl rubber not tar or asphalt like some other brands.Update... Its been awhile since I have had this product but finally got it in. I used all the regular foil before going to the black foil. And I still say that it is thicker than the black foil. Both work well. My situation is difficult because my doors are not the kind I can just put a couple of sheets up and be done. So I had to cut a lot of pieces to fit where I wanted them. Anyway. The whole time both packages were in the back hatch of the vehicle and never once did I get a smell of tar or asphalt so that was a plus for me. The spare tire area went as easy as any other dampener job could have. I up my stars to 4 cause of price and it being the Butyl rubber. Would give 5 but the as stated the Black seems to be half as thick as the regular.
