I watched some videos and decided to try and fix this myself (I've never done anything like this) I went slowly step by step (watching video) and got my dishwasher uninstalled (make sure to turn off power at breaker box to dishwasher and also turn off water to dishwasher) and then on it's back to install this new heating element. Then I got the dishwasher reinstalled, turned on power and turned on water. I ran a cycle and it did not heat. It did not work. I remembered reading in these reviews that you have to run a diagnostic cycle to reset the heating element. So I did this using a video I found in youtube (look for run whirlpool diagnostics) and instructions from Brandon's review from March 23 2023. He recommends running the 123 123 123 diagnostic cycle. See his review for more info.I did this and it worked. My new heating element is now working.

It works, but not too long. I have had to replace it already.

Has been working great in my dishwasher. Had problems with dishes getting clean and the old element was part of the problem- it had broken toward the back where it bends down. This was a pretty easy replacement but the little gaskets on the inside were smaller than the originals, but I haven't seen any leaks. (Another issue was the water inlet valve under the dishwasher- it has an inlet screen that was plugged with scale and debris, keeping it from adding enough water to the machine to clean well. Just FYI, and it was an easy swap and cheap.)

I previously purchased a heating element similar to this from a nonspecific brand but the oval shape of that element didn't fit my round element. I therefore purchased a few more models including this one. This came in a box that has Whirlpool Factory Certified label on it. I am not sure if it's a "Certified" model as in refurbished certification or a Whirlpool certified new unit. There is however a white paint mark on the coil itself. I tried to scrape it off with a plastic putty knife in case it melts and creates fume.At least the shape fits perfectly and functions fine. I hope it lasts or will revisit my review here.

Correct, authentic part. arrived nearly 3 months after ordering.. I wasn't allowed to request a return cuz it kept getting shuffled around in the postal service? While waiting, I made an order via ebaythat arrived exactly as promised and was authentic (and not beat up).maybe you'll have better luck? I'm switching to ebay for these kinds of things.. less cumbersome infrastructure. Oh, and yeah, the other new one did melt the wax seal on a dishwasher cleaner bottle. If your machine can't, get a new heating element.

Update:Same thing has happened again, worked great for a few months and now this element is burnt out too. Back to dirty, wet dishes. I'm not a repair man so I can't say for sure it's the elements fault 100% but I am pretty sure it is. I really was hoping it would last longer. Waisted money. I won't buy anything whirlpool anymore.Original post:My dishwasher was getting the dishes wet but they were coming out dirty. I don't remember how to use a voltage/Ohm meter so I chose to just guess that this was the part that wasn't working. My original one had a few small spots of rust but nothing obvious to say it had stopped working. I turned off the electricity breaker, pulled my dishwasher out from the counter, undidthe electrical wires and leaned the dishwasher over to get to the bottom. I unscrewed two plastic cap nuts, set the dishwasher back upright. Removed the old element and replaced it with the new. Rescrewed the two plastic nuts under the bottom that hold it in place , pushed dishwasher back in , reconnected the wiring and turned back on the electricity. Took me about 30 minutes, maybe a little less. It works great, dishes are clean.
