I was in need of a manual tool to cut bad weeds growing on the side of my house. I’m taking care of my lawn by myself and refuse to use electric string trimmer as they terrify me.It’s a useful tool that with a little work will get the job done. It’s easy to use , comfortable and pretty light .sharp enough to cut through small weeds and bushes. It was not difficult to put together even if there was no instruction manual. Can easily be stored in the corner of the garage for when needed.Good value .

This is a very well constructed, perfectly sized tool with a head that means business. The scicle piece is curved for an arc swing and is sharp enough to cut with a single pass. I have some stubborn ornamental grass that needs thinning out badly. I've used a steel rake, shovel, and hoe, but each of these tools were a massive failure.Because this has a flat, sharpened head, the grass was much easier to thin because I was able to "chop" the hardened ground around the clump, basically loosening the roots enough to thin easily. While this is remarkable for lawn care, I will be toting this with me for hiking and camping. This tool can be used to clean a camp spot, and handle any snakes, etc that come my way.It breaks down to be carried easily and assembles with a simple twist. This piece is very easy to use and is quite versatile in different scenarios. For me, this is very valuable to have at hand.

My teenage son and I tested this out on blades of grass, blackberry vines and small plants - it was sharp enough to cut all. It was easy to put together, but I didn't give it full stars because even after you tighten the screws the handle is a little bit loose and wobbles in your hand. My son will use it to cut grass that grows around his home baseball field. It has plastic net fencing so he can't get near it with the weed whacker since the string cuts the fence. With this weeding sickle, he will be able to slide it around and under the fence to cut the grass while leaving the fence intact.

This is a good tool for the right job. First, if you’ve got a lot of long flexible weeds this tool will work to a certain extent. It’s actually fairly sharp, but don’t kid yourself, a string trimmer is a far better tool for that task. If you just want to get a few weeds growing between the cracks this works just fine, though you may need to take a few slices at the really bendy weeds. I’ll tell you where this really excels, though—it’s for getting thick or woody stemmed weeds like thistle that string trimmers have a hard time going through. The serrated edge of this little sickle slices right through them, so you just head out with this one, chop the thick stemmed weeds down, then follow with the string trimmer. Yes, it means you need two tools, but you need the right tool for the right job, and I’ve never come across one that is good for every type of weed. The one thing to be careful of, though, is that when dealing with tall weeds with stickers, you’ll want to wear long sleeves and gloves, as the pull best at going through stems also tends to pull the cut stems towards you. I’m going to knock one star off because assembly was difficult and one of the bolts needed a bit of persuasion to get into its hole.
