Was able to plug this into my modem and set it up within 20 minutes or so. The wifi is a huge upgrade over my older Netgear Nighthawk. I'd like to see if there's a way to use these as a mesh system with a second one since the range isn't the best when in my yard.

Had for a week and has worked flawlessly.. Works great with my TDS fiber and has good range even in my garage. Plays my games with low ping no dropped signals.

Decent router. It is a Wifi7 router, with a lot of features. It's a medium sized router with 4 long antena's.It's easy to setup, and easy to work (if you have a background in IT/Networking) For non IT/Networking people, there are a TON of options. My wife just wants something to "plug and play" when it comes to a router, but we all know it's not quite that easy. There is some setup required. The real limiting feature is that this only comes with 4 network jacks. one is used for the cable to the modem, so you're left with only 3 network jacks to plug everything else in.If you have to plug in a printer and VOIP phone, and a desktop that is it. no more jacks. now you have to buy a switch to add additional cables. Now, if you dont need any cables plugged in and are truly doing everything wireless via wifi, then this will work just fine over a relatively small area.It says 1700sq ft, but what i found is that moving about 70ft away from this, the signal drops off dramatically.Try to put this at the highest point possible in the most central location possible to get the most coverage. This being wifi 7, does not even compare to my WIFI 6E router. My current router is SOOOO much better than this.I have 1 gig service. My wifi 6E router allows me to download 985mb/s for a speedtest. This router maxed out downloading at just over 500mb/s for a speedtest. for wifi 7??? really???I'm going to end up giving this to my father in law so he can get rid his old wifi 4 router he's held on to for years. If you're like me and work from home, have multiple tablets, computers, laptops, phones, game systems... look elsewhere. If your simple and have 2 phones and 2 laptops and a smart tv for streaming, this may work just fine (depending on how much speed you pay for)When it comes to internet(networking) there is always a bottleneck somewhere. Whether that be your service you pay for, or the modem or the router, or the device you're using.

First, this is one of those routers that is managed through "the cloud." I made sure that it didn't get the gateway or DNS servers so that it can't "phone home." I wanted to use this router as a WiFi Access Point because I already have a router. But it's not possible during the initial setup. I had to leave it in Mesh mode and then go menu diving to put it in AP mode.First problemEverything worked after the router was set up. I was able to connect my MacBook Pro to the Wavlink router and get on the Internet. I tried to do some work and I noticed that every time I used the command line tool SSH, the connection would pause. That was strange because browsing web sites worked fine.Second problemThe WiFi connection is slower that my old Netgear router/AP. My laptop only has 802.11AC, but it connects at 860+ mbps to the Netgear router. It topped out at 780 mbps on the Wavlink, but it usually fluctuates between 350 and 580 mbps.Third problemIt seems like the WiFi radio on this router stops working after being turned on for five to ten minutes. Sometimes I can reconnect, but it doesn't get a DHCP address and I can't get on the Internet. If I wait longer, it stops working altogether. The SSID is no longer broadcast. I tried scanning for it on my Laptop and cell phone. I can still connect to the router through the Ethernet port, but I have to power cycle the router to get WiFi working again.I had a frustrating three days trying everything possible to get the router working properly, but couldn't. It is so new that Wavlink doesn't have a product page for it on their website. There is also no firmware upgrade available as of April 26th, 2025.If I could find a few things positive to say about this router, I would be that it looks nice and it has a lot of features available in its web UI. It's also cheap, but I would rather pay extra for something that works properly.Unfortunately, I had nothing but trouble with this WiFi router. I spent a lot of time diagnosing the problem and have come to the conclusion that I received a defective unit or that there are major firmware bugs.
