I've been doing a lot of quilting this year, and wanted to start doing cooler patterns with free motion quilting. I got these rulers to do some cool waves and they are exactly what I had hoped for!Compared to my other quilting rulers, these are actually thicker which I love because they feel much more sturdy and durable! I also really appreciate the notes of where to start and stop the needles on the ruler as well as the sheet that shows some of the possibilities you can make with them. Even just the clarity of the acrylic itself looks better than some others I've had!Whether you are looking for rulers to help with drawings or free motion quilting like me, I do recommend these!

Mrs. Big-Foot here.. I do a lot of sewing (quilting mostly) and just love to spend time in my sewing room. When hubby showed me these, I was excited to give them a try!While I’m not a beginner, sometimes I’m not quite as steady as I used to be. Quilting with these very versatile templates as guides is very helpful!The templates are very well made and I really like them a lot - I think you will too.I keep up with my reviews and will revisit this one should the need arise.I give these templates my Mrs. Big-Foot “Stomp” of approval and 5 stars!

These don't make a channel for you to put your sewing foot in - the top is open and leaves lots of room for mistakes. I'm new to free motion quilting so maybe I don't understand how to use them. They come with a top and bottom piece for each style but they are 2 separate pieces so how do you keep them together so you can put your sewing foot between them?If it came with instructions, I might understand how to use these better.They are sturdy and pretty thick.They also give you designs but they don't tell you which waves to use to make the designs.The design page also mentions that it comes with pop-out nibs to trace the design on paper first but I didn't get any nibs.

Quilting rulers are expensive but I don’t mind spending a bit for my go-to daily use rulers. However, when it comes to specialty rulers that I’m not going to be using on a regular basis, I really don’t want to spend a lot since I won’t use them very often. This set is a good value but the price has dropped significantly from when I ordered it. The product insert has some design ideas but it also said it came with a nib to use for tracing however there wasn’t anything like that included in my package. The product description page didn’t mention it either.These are slightly thinner than Creative Grids rulers by about 1.5 mm and are shorter than I expected. The rulers have marks/lines on them but no measurements. They can be used for tracing designs for machine quilting or marking the edges of a quilt to create a unique border—but this is made more difficult without measurements on the rulers themselves. Note that these rulers are not thick enough to be used with a sewing machine as a guide for free motion quilting. You need them to be ¼” or thicker.

I've never used any tools like this before because the only quilts I've made before are patchwork with simple yarn ties. I'd like to get into the hobby deeper to use up some of my surplus fabrics through the years. I also sew dolls clothes and/or creative home decor and can visualize these tools coming in handy as template lines for drawing hem shapes. The acrylic thickness is good, and the inclusion of multiple shapes is beneficial. Now if I can just get all of my Spring gardening chores out of the way, I'd like to enjoy some sewing projects soon ... it would be fun to use a template for shaping a tablecloth edge for a small bistro table outside. :)

There are many options for quilting guides out there and these are certainly a good one, but they could be better. The templates are very sturdy, have smooth edges all around and sit completely flat. Each ruler has 2 pattern choices that create endless design possibilities. With 5 different rulers to choose from, your creativity can run wild. All of the rulers have placement lines but unfortunately there are no measurements. As a guide for quilting, I would expect these lines to be marked for quick guidance. It would also be helpful for the crest length and width to be marked so you can plan out your pattern based on the size of your quilt. It comes with a sheet showing you some of the pattern options you can create with the rulers but no instructions on which wave design to use for each. It would be hard to provide written instructions but a video tutorial would be very helpful. I have seen other quilt ruler manufacturers offer this and think it would elevate the RL- wave set if done as well. There is a hole at the top of the rulers that makes it easy to keep them all together and if stored hung up, will keep them from getting bent. I would suggest investing in some non-slip grips for the ruler bottoms. Especially if you are going to use them at your sewing/quilting machine. Another great use for these rulers would be for fussy cutting fabric with patterns. Because they are clear you can easily see the fabric through them. Overall this is a quality product with endless design possibilities

I haven't gotten the chance to use these yet but they are made very well. The acrylic is quite thick and they feel very sturdy. The edge feels very smooth.They are small, only about six inches long, so they are easy to hold and move.The variation of designs is quite broad. They go from very minimal waves to quite extreme curves. That's great for giving a person options.I expect these will aid in terrific quilting designs.

What a great variety of patterns that are available to make with this set! From following the pattern to making your own by layering it seems to be an excellent choice to have in your collection. The acrylic is a quality finish that will last a while before the need for replacement arises. The size is also very good for the domestic machine or the industrial machine.
