Why Long-Tailed Helmets Are a Thing of the Past
Designers have learned that in order to reduce drag on the backside of a helmet, you must change the shape of its front end. So these "New Kind of Helmets" helmets avoid drag-inducing vortices by tailoring the airflow over them, creating the same aerodynamic benefits with a different approach.
Airflow Advantage provides athletes with a reduced surface area in crosswinds by eliminating the tail. It can also help to reduce fatigue later in races when the muscles of the neck tire. Over long distances, many amateurs know the feeling of a strained neck late in the race.
To alleviate neck pain and fatigue, it's common for athletes to look down for a moment of respite. The drawback to this moment of rest is that your long-tailed helmet becomes an anti-aerodynamic device. It acts almost like a parachute. The new SLS3 helmet design does NOT incur that penalty.
Our 8 air vents might not be the most aero feature, however, dehydration slows you down more than the gain of an all-out aero helmet with no or limited vents. The benefit of our carefully placed vents far exceeds those helmets with limited ventilation.
Our magnetic visor is so easy to pop on and off that, you'll never go back to the more conventional clip in visors or separate sunglasses

Was recently riding the W&OD trail near Reston Va, great ride, feeling super good when a deer ran right in front of me while I was going about 24mph. I hit her broadside, couldn’t react or even break. Needless to say I flew a good 30 feet and rolled down the trail. I must have hit my head twice on the pavement based on the helmet scrapes and damage, and while I broke my foot I never lost consciousness nor sustained and head trauma! I’m buying another one of these right now!

I love this helmet it’s so comfortable and aerodynamic. The magnetic shield comes on and off so easily, but stays tight during the ride. I bought this helmet in white and It looks like a very expensive helmet when I wear it to my triathlon compared to what I used to have. Great helmet for the price!!!

Don't waste your money. I bought this helmet bsck in July and got a total of 4 uses out if it before the knob for the rear tensioner broke. It literally came off in my hand while I was trying to adjust it tighter prior to a ride. I had noticed on two prior rides that the ratcheting system was no longer working, but the internal fit band would at least still tighten; however, I would frequently have to reach back mid-ride to re-tighten it. Now, it doesn't do anything at all. Also, I never liked the fact that the sliders that adjust the side straps below your ears don't have a locking system to keep them in place -- you have to readjust them every time you put the helmet on. All in all, a THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTING purchase. I WILL be returning this for a refund.

Not sure what happened - I absolutely LOVED this helmet (have had it for over a year). It has good coverage while being extremely lightweight. I have a lot of hair but never had a problem with breathability. It works OK with a helmet strap for a top light (see photo). BUT BUT BUT, after being left in the sun for a couple days (and not even strong sun...we're NOT talking about the desert here), I noticed that the inner form of the helmet had melted and molded (see photo of how badly it deformed after 2 days).I wouldn't necessarily discourage a purchase of this helmet, but seeing how fast this got deformed (on accident) is somewhat scary. Will be purchasing something else, but probably not this one as the price-point is rather high. Pretty sad that it didn't last longer than it did.
