See screenshot. The web viewer for this software requires INTERNET EXPLORER 8 (yikes!!), Firefox 51 and BELOW (released in 2017), or Chrome 44 (released in 2015). What on earth is Swann thinking?!?! They're a security company, but yet requiring users to use incredibly outdated and vulnerable web browsers. Also, the HTTPS client doesn't work, meaning you have to use HTTP, which leaves you vulnerable to snooping and man-in-the-middle attacks!!The software for this NVR runs like something out of the early/mid aughts. It's incredibly buggy. Just the other day, I ran a firmware update and then my NVR wouldn't start. Turns out that they broke support for my ONVIF camera that I had attached to the system, and the only way to fix it was to unplug the system from the network and remove the camera's configuration. What? There are many other smaller, but nonetheless frustrating issues with the system that I'm not going to bother griping about.Stay away from this dangerously out-of-date NVR and find yourself one that actually has a development team working on it. Seems like the software for this was abandoned somewhere in the mid 2010s. Don't expect new features or fixes to glaring issues.

UPON RECEIVING THE ORDER ONE OF THE UNITS WAS NOT TESTED AND WHEN IT WAS IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. WHEN WE PURCHASHED THE UNITS WE THOUGHT WE WERE BUYING NEW ONES, THE FAULTY ONE IS ALL SCRATCHED UP AND HAS SIGNS OF SCOTCH TAPE ON IT THAT WAS REMOVED. THESE UNITS WE PAID $ 419.95 EACH AND WE PURCHASED 4 OF THEM. WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HAPPEN IS A REPLACEMENT SENT AND I WILL SEND BACK THE FAULTY USED ONE

Cameras went offline constantly. No control for playback on the app. Would not recommend.

It is a good device with many useful features, the interface simple enough. I dislike that not only is it incompatible with other brand cameras, this is I knew before purchase, what I think is ridiculous is that this fancy, hi-tech, human detect recorder only works with a FEW SWANN cameras! Half of which are not available and the other half cruelly expensive. Going to have to discard it.

The cameras work fine, and the software is okay. No ability to blank out motion areas so you'll get tons and tons of false motion detection issues.But, the windows software is garbage. On one Windows 10 PC it won't run at all. On another windows 10 PC it does run, but immediately gets flagged with viruses, including:Trojan.Gen.MBT MalwareHeur.AdvML.C MalwareTrojan.Gen.MBT Malware

With the whole system installed and all cables tested I cannot keep all 8 cameras going more than a day without random Video Loss. It's never the same camera.Example, I had camera #2 and #5 drop out so I unplugged them and plugged them back in. After they rebooted everything looked great. The next day camera #3 dropped out, rebooted it and everything was good again. The next day #1 and #7 dropped out, it was like chasing your tail. If I unplug any two cameras the remaining 6 would stay on.I talked to Swann thinking the power supply was bad, they sent a new power supply but it did not fix the problem. I did test all the cables again and they all passed. After reading on line it looks like I am not the only one having this problem and nobody seems to have a fix.

I purchased this Swann NVR, and purchased 1 single 4K camera in order to compare it to the Lorex equviliant 4K NVR with spot light. The spotlight cameras, which were a “must have” for me since I have a few dark areas around the house, that I wanted to protect and illuminate when needed. . I find this has a much easier a modern looking GUI , in comparison to the Lorex. In addition, this thing is whisper quiet. If it only had a remote , I would give it 5 stars. Once it impressed me, I purchased the remainder 7 cameras to take advantage of all 8 ports. I purchased a combination of the 4K and 5MP spotlight cameras. Now I only wish they had this in a 12 or 16 port NVR , so I could add more cameras.
