This versatile lawn spreader is ideal for homeowners and professionals alike, perfect for fertilizer, grass seed, ice melt and more. Made of rugged polypropylene, the 50 lb. capacity hopper won’t rust or dent. The Spyker Dial’s 90 settings allow operators to accurately calibrate for the specific type of material being applied. With its large fully pneumatic tires the P20-5010 rolls easily and maintains constant ground contact, driving the spinner consistently via the fully enclosed gearbox, which delivers a more uniform spread pattern. The hopper’s on-off assembly is connected via a solid steel linkage for improved durability versus cable-based designs.

Received, put together, and finally get to use it.Return/Exchange policy is past, and I am stuck with a spreader that gearbox is jammed.Contacted company and they have sent a replacement part.I feel that this item might have been a returned item that was shipped to me because the gate pully system is malfunctioning also.Hopefully , you have a better product shipped to your house.

I was expecting more for the price. The spread pattern is not even -- heavy to the left -- one stripe gets nearly twice the product, the next gets nearly nothing... The description states the "accuway" pattern calibration mechanism comes with the product -- NOT TRUE. It's a less than $10 part that is apparently available separately -- but I have to now go find it and spend time installing it to hopefully make the spread pattern usable. The tires are indeed pneumatic, but not much bigger than a cheap spreader and it still requires quite a bit of effort to push around. I do not recommend this spreader at this price.

This is a robust, easily-assembled spreader that made short work of a large lawn. It is obviously well-made and the pneumatic tyres make it easy to control over the lumps and bumps. Don't waste your money on those daft things you see in garden centres. It isn't perfect. however. It works OK for relatively coarse products, but a filter for fine products would be useful. So would a hand grip for turning off the spreader when you are going round corners etc

This is really an awesome spreader - especially compared to the plastic wheeled ones. It throws the formulation in an impressive manner - spreading it wide and evenly. I love the positive on/off - that made it worth getting! After it arrives, you will want to lube things up a little with pump oil (this goes a long ways - especially with the gate control!). Do not skip this step - makes a big difference. The support tubes (they keep the spreader upright when not moving) get in way. In other words, the handle is at too much of an upward angle. This only gets awkward when going up a hill. I'm looking at ways that I can fix this. Not a huge deal, but it does make quite a difference.Everything else feels great about it.----------------------------- Revision as of 2/10/2014:Couple of things: first, the support tubes haven't seemed to bother me a lot during application. The biggest time that I notice it is on grades. Second, I have noticed that it seems to favor the left side in terms of application amount. The difference between the right and left is noticeable and replicable. I have made sure that everything is clean, and have failed to see anything that would seem to make a difference, but again I can see the dichotomy. This is a blessing in disguise when going around the edge of a stand of turf, but otherwise forces one to alternate directions (which isn't bad at all anyway).Overall I haven't had any problems with the mechanical functions on it which are holding out well. The included cover has proved very nice and practical. I believe the construction is built of both powder coated steel and some stainless steel. It and the tires seem are holding up well so far.The biggest problem that I see with this spreader is the dial setting. It is not an Ortho dial-it-and-go setup. I often refer to the end of the manual ([...]) for a general reference of what to dial it to but have found it to often be on the sparse side and end up, many times, just eyeballing it. That obviously is NOT a precise way to apply product, but seems to be the best I can do without labouriously setting up a test plot each time. I've done it (turf treatment) for a number of years now, and have a rough feeling for what I should see which helps.
