This is billed as a "direct replacement", but in fact it doesn't bolt up to the stock fuel line on my car. This is because of course the fuel lines installed in 1957 were SAE & the fitting installed on this pickup is metric. In the end, I ended up sawing off my fuel line and the one coming out of the sending unit and bridging the gap with a piece of rubber fuel line & a couple of hose clamps. Not all that happy about it, but what can you do? No point in returning it. Summer is short here and it's time to drive! Unit functions well with the fuel guage in my car however (awesome!), and fuel pickup works ok too - so overall I'm satisfied with it.For the record, when I measured the resistance of this sending unit I believe (if I rememeber correctly) it came in at 30 ohms, in case anyone is wondering about that.I installed this on a 1957 Canadian Pontiac four door sedan (which shares the same mechanical underpinnings as a 1957 Chevrolet). Swapped right in to the stock locaton without issue, needed to drop the front of the tank down, but not a huge job.

The sending unit was installed in my gas tank and is functioning as intended. However after it arrive I reallized that it had many plastic parts on it. I later found an all metal brass and stainless sending unit for sale at considerably less cost. I could have had a better built unit for considerable savings

Worked perfectly in my 1957 Chevy, just what I needed to get the correct reading.
