It’s perfect for groups and parties.

  • PLAY SOLO OR WITH AN OPPONENT: With both single player and multiplayer options, the virtual pong set is great for solo practice or two player fun. Hone your skills with the one player option, or grab a friend and duke it out. The game tracks your score in both 1 and 2 player modes. 3 difficulty levels are available to keep you and your friends on your toes.
  • GAME MECHANICS: The virtual pong set uses infrared technology. There are 1 and 2 player options, and 3 difficulty levels to choose. Toggle through these options using the buttons on the base. To hit the ball, pass the racket through the beam of light emitted from the base. Ensure the IR emitter on the racket is facing the virtual ball during play. More detailed information is included in the instruction manual.
  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please use an appropriate sized screwdriver (Phillips/cross) on battery compartments to avoid stripping screws. Set requires total of 7 “AA” batteries—2 per racquet, 3 for the base (not included). Set works best in small room with dim or no lighting.

Does not work as shown. Not worth the money. Maybe for a silly gag gift that doesn’t work. Pictures are deceiving as to how it actually works.

It sounded like a really cool idea, and in theory if it worked as described it would have been. Unfortunately, it was mostly an exercise in frustration as we all tried in vain to get any sort of consistent play out of the game. Does it work? Well yes, technically, however it is quite awkward and most of the time results in the players taking a wild guess at where the ball should be. While I applaud the innovation, and it really is a neat idea, in practice it just really didn't work for us. I've tried on several different occasions with several different methods, and it always ends the same.Overall, I found this to be a neat concept that just didn't work well in practice and it is not something I would recommend.

Welcome to Virtual Pong! This game is great. The game arrived in two boxes to avoid any shipping damage. The main box has the two paddles and the projection unit. It’s very easy to setup and start running. The paddles are lightweight and around 6” long. This game can be either used in single player mode or dual player mode. The projection unit keeps track of the score and is loud enough to hear. We personally needed to use ours in our basement being the darkest area of the house and it worked great. My family had a blast playing it. Plus at the price point of $50 for a sharper image product is great also. Here are my concerns . The batteries don’t last long. After a few hours our new energizer max batteries died in the paddles which was disappointing. Next, this game requires 7 (yes you heard me right) seven AA batteries. It takes two AA batteries in each paddle and three AA batteries in the projection unit. Be ready to spend a lot of batteries to keep this game going. Lastly to easily see the virtual ball we needed to play in our basement (being completely dark). Other than that it’s a fun game.If you’re looking for an easy setup pong game then this is the one for you. Just make sure you bring enough batteries to keep the game going.

First of all, I love Sharper Image! They have cool, innovative things that you can't find any where else. It took me a while to get used to this but once I did, I thought it was fun. I made grunts just like the female tennis players just for giggles! It's definitely different. It's been a long time but I enjoy ping pong. Of course,, I never played this way! It had to be really dark to see the lights. I played against the computer. I'm pretty good at ping pong so I think it just waited until until I got tired. Lol. I need to try it on a harder level. There are 3. I may not have as much room as it needs. I just cleared off the kitchen table and used it there. I'd prefer to have the "ball" appear on the wall rather then the ceiling. Sometimes I wouldn't "hit" the ball just right and it wouldn't register. That's how the computer cheats if it was taking too long for me to tire out ! Haha. Jk! The paddles are comfortable. You need 6 AA batteries for everything. That's 2 for each paddle and 2 for the computer part. I just had to try this. As soon as I saw it! I needed more fun in my life! There's just never enough!

Worth $20, maybe. This thing is dumb and definitely not as advertised. It's hard to learn, hard to play, and frustratingly inaccurate. Out of our first 10 games, green ALWAYS wins. Coincidence? Who knows.Tip1) Ignore the ceiling and wall promises. They simply don't work. Can't ever tell where they are or where they are going and definitely cannot hit them with any level of accuracy.Tip2) Put the unit on a table, stand fairly close, paddles pointed inward. Then just watch the plastic top of the unit for the light, and use its positioning to imagine where the ball would actually be. That kinds of works. Except when it doesn't and you lose a point.I will definitely not be keeping this. And I would feel guilty inciting the frustration that giving it away would cause. So I don't know what to do with it.

I hope this playset will help me free my kids from video games. It did. My kids were so excited to get it at first. It is novice friendly. Simple setup to get started. Now children have one more item that they can exercise indoors. We have very cold winters here. I would love to give them more games that they can exercise indoors.

This is honestly an amazing toy from Sharper Image. My kids have a switch and have a tennis game that they have is not easy. Its not as slow paced as the sharper image game. The good thing about this is that it has levels to even a 5 year old can play it and have a good time by not losing over and over. My son likes it too but I have to play with him so we can up the levels a bit and make it harder. My wife also joined in and had a blast. Good gift for Christmas.
