Boards to small for cage, they slip through the bars even with the washer that is also to small to support board and cage. The screws need to be longer into the board. They are not stable at all would not recommend

I was a brand new guinea owner when I ordered these, and will say I probably wouldn't if I did it all again. The quality is good for the price, and you can arrange them in lots of creative ways to give your small pet entertainment and exercise. They look very appealing and give the cage a more pleasing esthetic with the labels. But, our guinea doesn't seem fond of steps or climbing. After finding out their back legs aren't meant to hold their weight for extended times (the reason they don't use exercise wheels), I understand why. I haven't given up hope yet, and place snacks and treats on different parts of the steps to tempt him, though.These were easy to set up. You just place the plank where you want it against the side of the cage, slide the metal piece through, place the washer on the other side, and screw on the last piece to tighten it into place. The washer keeps it from slipping through the cage wires, and is supposed to give it stability. The wires on our cage are almost too far apart, I've had to ensure it's positioned just right when placing them, or the washer slips through and it all falls. I think the wires on a standard cage are slightly closer together, so it wouldn't be an issue for most. There's also all kinds of ways to finagle it if needed. So it's fairly sturdy, our guinea could do jumping Jack's on them and have no fear of one falling. Considering their made for small pets, I feel confident in saying they're very safe stability-wise.The planks are fairly small. As you can see I didn't use any of the circle platforms. They would work well for hamsters or anything smaller than a piggy. The rectangular platforms are just barely large enough for our months old guinea. I'm honestly unsure he could comfortably lay on one, but just standing he's golden.The cooling pad makes me slightly anxious. I wasn't entirely confident in how to place it. There's netting on one side that seems to be holding them together, at first I thought the netting peeled off so the blocks would stick to the platform in the groove that's made for them. But I realized fairly quickly its just to keep them from sliding around and holds them together. I'm not certain how cooling they actually are, but I'm sure they're cooler than wood or fleece to lay on.The little metal food bowl sits perfectly in the cutout made for it, and is easily removed and replaced for cleaning or just placing/emptying treats.Overall I think these are pretty adorable. A hamster, rat, or any small pet that enjoys climbing will enjoy them. As long as they're placed correctly, they seem to be absolutely safe as well. You can place them in a variety of designs and at different levels, creating an easy or challenging climb for your little guy or gal depending on their needs. At this price point, you won't find much better out there!

I ordered these for my wife who keeps pet rats. She likes these ledges. They fit well in the wire cages for the rats. The screw and washer attachment is easy to use and secure. The variety of shapes and sizes allows a lot of variety for how the cage is arranged. The ledges are all wood, so safe for rodents. The small glass tiles are removable, and can be refrigerated to help cool the pets. This is a good set for most pets that are kept in small wire cages. Five stars.
