  • "I registered the boat on Friday and took her out on the Chesapeake Bay for the first time on Saturday. Feel free to share the attached pictures. The boat was a pleasure to operate and the wheels are a great addition that allow me to take take the boat out by myself. Thanks for a great product and all the helpful communications over the last few weeks, and years since I am a return customer having just recently upgraded from the SD260 that I bought from you in 2006." Works great, latch pin setup needs improvement.

Seriously 1950s technology. They're wheels. They work. Lifting them and lowering them is a nightmare. Seriously have to fight with the stupid pins every single time. They're not even attached by string so you you don't drop them in the lake. Dealing with these wheels is the least pleasant part of boating. The washers are too small so those have dug holes into the transom. The edges of the mounts are sharp and rub against the boat when deflated. That will eventually be a problem. The bolts stick out too far and also rub against the boat. Very poorly thought out. There ought to be some simple way to lock these up and down. I wish i hadn't drilled my transom to fit these so i could go look for a better solution.

I knew buying the cheapest wheels offered on amazon would be risky but in this situation the risk paid off. The wheels are plump enough to go up and down ribbed boat ramps without a problem. They're also big enough to where I can tie the front of my boat to my pickup tailgate and haul it short distances. It's made my boat ramp loading and unloading experience way better since I'm able to fully prep the boat in the parking lot and then walk the boat down when ready. I have a 10 footer Achillies with a 72 Lb 2 stroke (plus a 20Lb chubby pug) and I'm able to haul it up and out of the boat ramp manually.*Long term use update*I reduced 5 star to 4 star because it's difficult to line the pins up especially when you're trying to support the weight of the boat on the wheels, or when you have your dip your hands in freezing water and can't see what you're doing. I lost a pin but that may be a godsend. I'm replacing at least the non pivot pins with PTO Shaft Locking Pin 1/4" x 2-1/4". The skinnier pin should glide in and out easier and the locking mechanism will keep it from sliding out. For reference stock pin size is 5/16" diameter and about 2.5" long.Oh and remember to put your wheels up for your first voyage! I'm so lucky the prop didn't reach the wheels otherwise I would've caused a huge expensive mess while maneuvering out of the docks.

Functional and a good value, but as others have commented, I had to grind and sand the corners round to prevent puncture during storage of my inflatable boat. Also added a lanyard to connect the pins together on each side, which I of course remove for storage.

So I love love love my boat, and wanted a better way to launch off concrete and where I'm not set up close to the shore. Here are my pros and cons:1)PROS:It gives your boat wheelsCONS:1) The hardware will allow you to over tighten the washers into the transom. Even if you don't over tighten them they will come loose from vibration and dig a hole into the transom. Not good. Go buy some fender and lock washers and use those.2) The aluminum edges are raw unfinished cuts and with slice you to ribbons while trying to raise the wheels in the water. They will also wear a hole in your stored boat. Not good. Hit them with a sander.3) If you try and launch astern the shore with your wheels down you will get stuck in the mud/sand and have to get out of the boat. Not good. I launch bow first now and that works well.4) They limit motor movement left/right when raised.5) For the Kaboats they are too wide for the narrow transom and don't lower well without being forced over the tubes. There are some other minor things but overall that pretty much covers it. Bottom line is you have to have them so it 's a catch 22.

Perfect. Only problem was the bolts are too long. My transom is 7/8" thick and there's too much shank on the bolts so I just had to go out and buy some extra stainless washers to stick in there and it works perfectly.

Everything is as it seems. The wheels seems very sturdy, the aluminum is of correct thickness and the hardware supplied is quality stainless. This will make a great addition to my boat. If you are looking to purchase launching wheels these are great for the price. I will update after I put the wheels through some tough use.
