2. Tachometer Functions
- Real-time RPM: Record the engine real-time RPM value when it run, help to calibrate the accuracy by 9 engine firing patterns and 4 RPM measurement range.
- MAX RPM&RPM ALERT: Display the maximum RPM value since engine start to work.

I have a Troy-Bilt Bronco riding mower I installed this on and it has been working fine. It was relatively easy to install, though it would have been easier if the cable was just a wee bit longer. I initially liked the idea of the clamp to attach onto the spark plug wire, but now I have concerns about the clamp wearing on the cable shielding. The clamp is relatively strong and has sharp pointy teeth, that along with the normal mower vibrations has me concerned that it will wear on the cable so I just need to remember to inspect it occasionally to see if it does.

I got this to test my snowblower and generator and it is quite simple to get running. All you need to do is turn it on (remove the plastic cover from the battery first) and connect the alligator clip to the spark plug wire. It will instantly start showing readings in real time.The interface itself is not intuitive if you want to do more than simply see the RPMs, so if you want to use the programmable firing patterns or set the tachometer or ranges, then make sure you keep the operating instructions handy.It does have tons of features though:- Backlit LCD screen- Min/Max RPMs- Programmable RPM alert- RPM Refesh Rate setting- Total Hours of Operation counter- Hour meter/timer, with different jobs/counters- Recording the number of times the engine startsIt also comes with velcro that you can surface mount it, allowing you to place or remove it. The velcro has a circular cut out so you can still access the battery chamber.In order to turn off the screen you need to hold both buttons at the same time for 3 seconds, but I found it doesn't work well if doing it with 2 fingers on the same hand. I have to use both hands to press them both at the same time, which is inconvenient.

I ordered one of these digital hour meters / tachometers to set the low and high RPM's on small engines. The meter is easy to use. You simply clip the built in alligator clip onto the spark plug wire and the meter will show the RPM's. The digital display is easy to read for what I use it for, is well made and does it's job as it should. You could easily hook this meter up and mount it with hook and loop tape as a dedicated meter on a lawn mower, snow blower, riding mower, etc. This meter has the ability to set maintenance reminders, hour meter, and RPM's on many small engine applications. I rated it 5 stars.

I got this to help set the carburetor on my 68’ bug and it has been very helpful. It is easy to use and pretty easy to read, I would rank it up there with some of the more expensive options as it works and seems well made.I have no negative comments about this product and highly recommend it if you work with carbureted cars frequently.
