Absolute garbage! I ordered this filter for a 20-gallon aquarium with two small turtles and it did not work at all. I ordered a replacement that arrived a couple of days later and it worked for less than a month. I will NEVER order another product from this line - the filter I picked up at Wal-Mart worked for over three years before it went out, this item didn't make it three weeks!

I would not recommend this product. I've owed many filters and this hands down is the worst one I've purchased. Assembled per instructions. Water level first was at max level, pump was very noisy and did not filter water..or do anything. Lowered water level in between min & max..no change. Cleaned impeller, still no change.

I bought this for a 50 gallon tub for my slider turtles. The water was murky and when I put this in within about 5 hours the water is now crystal clear. Easy to set up and well worth the money. Would definitely recommend this product.

I have a very destructo turtle who loves to “play with all his filters. He has now broken several so when I saw that not only would this one hide it from him but provide something to climb I thought it would definitely be worth a try.-It came in very well packaged and protected.-The instructions were pretty well done and the setup was fairly simple.-It is pretty tall so you may not want to use it in a baby set up but wait until you upgrade them.-It is actually a silent operation which is very nice. I actually have to look to make sure the water is moving to know if it is still running. With my turtle's history I check daily and so far he has yet to figure out how to take it apart so that is awesome.-The material it is made out of is very sturdy and doesn’t feel flimsy at all.-So far it does a really good job at filtering the water too which is quite a bit of work because the turtle water gets nasty quick.-One downside though is after about a month the paint starts to flake off super easy with the lightest touch. almost like it was not meant for continued water use.So not only does it look really neat it keeps his water clean and he can’t destroy it so totally worth it!

This filter is a bit strange. It has a super-large footprint, so you can't really use it in the small tanks you would normally keep small/baby turtles in, but the basking platform up top is too small for most full-grown turtles, including the ever-popular red-eared sliders. My smallest slider is too big for the platform by about an inch on the widest dimension. I suppose if you have small turtles in a big tank, this is your best bet.The filter is also quite tall, so you will want to make sure you have a high-walled tank or have a screen or other cover across to top, because it comes up to within a couple inches of the top of my standard tanks I bought at my local pet store.There is a replaceable filter cartridge inside here, which runs about $10 for a 3-pack. It looks like a cartridge last about a month in a 30-ish gallon tank with two turtles in it.The filter is INCREDIBLY quiet, to the point where I was wondering if it was working at first.I did notice that after a few months of use the paint on the filter seems to be coming off in spots, probably due to the scratch of claws climbing it. I would have much preferred a filter with an unnatural color of plastic than a natural-looking one that eventually forces me to clean it more often so paint chips don't come off in the water.
