5 stars for quality.2 stars for convenience (doesn't include screws! Make sure you buy with or get your own. #8 wood screws is recommended, I believe, but #6 would also work)2 stars for lack of instructions/confusion (does not include instructions, which might be confusing for ppl like me who don't use this sort of thing often; to mount the latch/get access to base, you have to rip it open on the hinge; it might feel like it's breaking, but it's just the catch.Still. Product is very solid, just needs a lot of clarification. Although, hopefully, if you're reading this review, you'll be able to avoid a lot of the grief I had to go through.

I love these latches. Best latches if come across for chick coops, chests, and kid/animal doors. These last a long time outside too. Been over a year, and no rust or paint chipping off. works like new.

I have given 3 stars because the product itself gets a 5 but the lack of a spec sheet with the mounting dimensions makes the thing virtually impossible to install correctly the first time. That gets 0, so the average is a 3.

Well built and does the job. It's a little tricky to figure out the correct distance apart the two parts should be for the correct of spring tension. Some instructions would be nice. Other than that, its a great value!
